I am eagerly anticipating Saturday, November 3 at 7:30pm when I will have
the opportunity to see one of Canada’s top county superstars perform on the
Bert Church Theatre stage. This is a show that no one should miss! Why, you
ask? Well, read on…..
Canadian country music sensation, Brad Johner, continues on a roll with the
release of his second solo album, Summertown Road, the follow-up to his very
successful and Juno-nominated solo debut Free. It is already showing signs of
being another huge success producing two Top 10 songs and videos and is
loaded with more surefire future hits.
It has been a very busy year for Johner. Several high profile performances this
year, including the Queen's Gala and Canada Summer Games, and an unrelenting touring schedule from Victoria to Quebec City, has kept Johner on the
forefront of the Canadian Country music scene, a position he carved out over a
thriving decade-long career in Canada.
A successful run with brother Ken, as The Johner Brothers, led to four hit albums before Brad turning solo in 2003. The industry has responded positively
to the move, recognizing Brad with a 2003 Western Canadian Music Award
for "Outstanding Country Album", 2003 CCMA nominations for "Album of
the Year" and "SOCAN Song of the Year", and a win at the 2004 Canadian
Independent Music Awards for "Favourite Country Artist/Group". He was also
recognized with Juno and CCMA nominations in 2004.
For Brad it all starts with the song and it’s imperative that he puts his heart,
soul and voice into songs both he and his audience can relate to.
On the live front, Brad is a veteran of the stage. His polished
performance and exceptional band culminate in a truly entertaining and memorable show. Tickets are selling quickly for this show. Where else could you see

Slow Cooker Pork Barbecue
INGREDIENTS:
1 pork roast (shoulder, butt, fresh picnic), about 4 pounds
1 lg. onion
4 to 6 cloves garlic, sliced
Your favourite barbecue sauce
PREPARATION:
Brown pork roast in skillet with a small amount of oil. Peel and slice 1 large
onion. Place half of the onion in bottom of crockpot. Put roast in crockpot and
add 1/2 cup water. Add remaining onion and the garlic. Cover and cook on low
9 to 11 hours; remove meat and let cool enough to handle. Discard onion and
juices in slow cooker or crockpot. Tear roast into small pieces or shred with
forks. Put back in crockpot and add barbecue sauce (until juicy - as much as
you like). Continue to cook on LOW for 1 1/2 to 3 hours, or until flavours are
blended.
Serve shredded pork on buns.
Serves 8 to 10.
Slow Cooker Apple Crisp Dessert
INGREDIENTS:
6 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored, sliced
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ginger
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
TOPPING SUGGESTIONS:
Vanilla ice cream; Maraschino cherries; Whipped cream or whipped topping.
PREPARATION:
Grease crockpot, arrange slices in bottom. In a mixing bowl, combine flour,
sugar, spices and butter. Cover the apples with this mixture. Tamp down lightly.
Cook on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours, until apples are tender. Serve in dessert dishes
with any or all of the suggested toppings.

LATE DELIVERY
The orthopedic surgeon I work for was moving to a new office,
and his staff was helping transport many of the items.
I sat the display skeleton in the front of my car, his bony arm
across the back of my seat. I hadn't considered the drive across
town. At one traffic light, the stares of the people in the car beside me became obvious, and I looked across and explained, "I'm
