See Taylor. From the Family & Outreach Minister’s Desk Praise to the LORD! Blessings abound. Driving 523 miles from home to put down new roots is not for the faint of heart. Leaving Kentucky family & friends was not without tears; but God has been so kind. We have already been showered with love here at Hillview. Thank You! Our hearts are full. New relationships are forming. The bond is sweet. We have peace knowing this is the community where the Lord has clearly called us (Acts 17:26). Furthermore, how special it was to announce as a father-to-be on Father’s Day that baby Wehrle is due January 14th! My prayer is that all of the expected physical new -births at Hillview are a sign of revival & spiritual new-birth as we share the Gospel in the CSRA. Earlier this week I was struck by words written in 1869 by Charles Spurgeon about staying productive and fruitful for the Lord: “The dog in the kennel barks at the fleas, the hunting dog does not even know they are there!” As I run, pray that fleas of home-sickness, fleas of anxiety, and fleas of idleness find no place to latch on! Happy 4th of July Thank God for the freedom we have in our country, and for the eternal freedom found in Jesus Christ alone. Mission News Thank you for the support & generous contributions to the Food Project for the Associational Mission Trip to Garrett, Kentucky. 23 boxes of food collected Mid Year Review Much has taken place in the forefront and behind the scenes in 2016. Since we are half way through the year, I felt it would be helpful to list the completed and ongoing projects. Completed Projects Sanctuary Renovations: The carpet was replaced and the ceiling and walls were finished. Hallways and Offices: The carpet was replaced and the ceiling and walls were painted. Budget Expansion: The Finance Committee worked hard to evaluate and expand the budget. New Office Space: The Building and Media Committees converted the Library to office space. Website Redesign: Chris Williamson redesigned the church’s website. Family & Outreach Minister: The Personnel/Search Committee spent many long hours working to discern God’s will and helped identify Taylor Wehrle as the man set apart for Hillview. Ongoing Projects Electronic Sign: The electronic sign is scheduled to be installed in July in time for VBS. Windows for Doors: Several years ago, the church voted to install windows in the classroom and office doors. This project should be completed in July. Twenty-Year Celebration: October is right around the corner and we will soon shift gears toward planning the anniversary celebration. Be on the alert for more information. This is not an exhaustive list, but a snap shot of things God is doing at Hillview. My thanks to each of you for the extra hours, dedication, and countless prayers. Remember, “Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21). Just as we have demonstrated the patience to wait on God, I hope that we will continue to move forward in faith when He calls us to action.
