DO YOU MEET THE PRISON DECENCY CODE?
The U.S. Bureau of Prisons applies the following restrictions to persons visiting inmates
incarcerated in federal detention facilities:
Inappropriate/unauthorized attire is considered to be: transparent clothing; strapless garments;
any garment which exposes the stomach or any intimate area of the body, tank-tops; halter
tops; dresses, skirts and shorts which are shorter than four (4) inches from the middle of the
knee; garments with obscene logos; low-cut blouses; obvious lack of undergarments. (http://

PILGRIMAGE TO PORTUGAL AND SPAIN &LITURGICAL CONFERENCE
“RESTORING THE SACRED WITH THE TRADITIONAL MASS”
Join the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius from September 8-11, 2010, in Fatima,
Portugal, for a liturgical conference on the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite. Priests, deacons,
seminarians are encouraged to attend. Conferences will also be open to religious brothers and sisters
as well as the laity from all over the world. The conferences will be given in the Hotel de Fatima.
Conferences will explain the rubrics of the Traditional Latin Mass, the spirituality and
history of this ancient form of the Roman Rite, a treasury of grace, which Pope Benedict XVI has
restored to the entire Church. Additionally, we will explain the symbolism of the ceremonies of the
Mass and the hermeneutic of continuity. A special feature of the conference will be an introduction
to the ancient form of the Latin Rite Mass known as the Rite of Braga Portugal by Fr. Joseph Santos.
Lectures will be given in English and Portuguese; translators will be provided at the conference.
If you are interested to attend this conference from Wednesday evening, September 8
through mid-day on Saturday, September 11 in Fatima, please email Fr. Scott Haynes at
[email protected] .
Daily Mass will be offered according to the 1962 Missale Romanum during the Liturgical
Conference. Masses will be offered in Fatima at the Opus Angelorum Chapel on September 8th. On
September 9th we will celebrate Mass in the ancient form of the Latin Rite called the Rite of Braga
with Fr. Joseph Santos. On September 10th, the Missa Solemnis will be offered at the High Altar of
the Basilica of Fatima. The final Solemn High Mass on September 11th will be offered at the Opus
Angelorum Chapel.
In addition to providing the Liturgical Conference from September 8-11, the Canons Regular
will also be lengthening this visit to Portugal by making pilgrimage to other important Catholic sites
in both Portugal and Spain under the direction of Fr. C. Frank Phillips, CR, Fr. Scott A. Haynes, SJC,
and Fr. Eduardo Garcia-Ferrer, SJC. We will depart on Sunday, September 5th from Chicago
arriving in Lisbon, celebrating the Mass on September 6th at the church built over the birthplace of
St. Anthony.
On our way to Fatima on September 7th we will visit the church, which houses the 13th
century Eucharistic Miracle of Santarem. After Daily Mass in the Extraordinary Form we continue
our pilgrimage, arriving in Fatima to begin the liturgical conference on the Feast of the Nativity of
the Blessed Virgin Mary, September 8. As our conference concludes on the 11th of September, we
continue our pilgrimage to Spain where we’ll visit the church which houses the remains of St. John
of the Cross to offer Mass. In Madrid we will several breathtaking churches. Our final Mass,
celebrated on the 3rd anniversary of the motu proprio, Summorum Pontificum, September 14th, the
Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, will be at the awesome Pontifical Basilica of St. Michael.

PROPERS FOR JUNE 6—CORPUS CHRISTI
Introit—The love of God has been poured into our hearts, alleluia; by his Spirit, which dwells in us, alleluia,
alleluia. Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Gradual—Blessed are you, O Lord, who gaze into the depths and who are enthroned upon the Cherubim.
Blessed are you, O Lord, in the firmament of heaven, and worthy of praise forever.
Alleluia—Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers; and worthy to be praised forever.
Offertory—Blessed be God the Father, and the only begotten Son of God, and the Holy Spirit; for he has dealt
with us according to his mercy.
Communion—Let us bless the God of heaven and utter his praises before all who live; for he has dealt with us
according to his mercy.
ON THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST PRECIOUS BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST:
FOOD FOR THOUGHT ON THE RECEPTION OF COMMUNION
Pope Benedict XVI stated on May 22, 2008: ―Kneeling in adoration before the Eucharist is
the most valid and radical remedy against the idolatries of yesterday and today.‖
Cardinal Cañizares Llovera, the prefect for the Congregation for Divine Worship and
Discipline of the Sacrament in Rome, said on July 22, 2009: ―It is the mission of the
Congregation for Divine Worship and Sacraments to work to promote Pope Benedict’s
emphasis on the traditional practices of liturgy, such as reception of Communion on the
tongue while kneeling.‖
NEW MEN’S GREGORIAN CHANT SCHOLA—FIRST PRACTICE
The New all men’s Gregorian Chant Schola at St. Peter’s will have its first practice at 8:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, June 8 the church choir loft. We invite all men, who would like to help preserve this
centuries old tradition of the Church. Not only will you be giving greater glory to God in the sacred
liturgy but you will also be helping preserve one of the great treasures of Catholic culture. No
experience is necessary—only a willingness to learn. Practices will take place weekly. For more
information, contact Br. Nathan Caswell at 815-385-5496.
FATHER KOLIŃSKI WILL BE GONE JUNE 7-16
The Founder-Superior of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius meetings, Father Frank Phillips,
CR, and the four original founding members of the community will be traveling to Rome next week
with Bishop Joseph Perry for meetings with a number of Dicasteries (i.e., official Vatican
congregations, which conduct the regular administration of the Church). In addition, we will also
travel to Poland for a few days in order to visit SACROEXPO, the largest International Exhibit of
Church Architecture and Furnishings, Sacred Art and Devotional Items in Europe, which will take
place at that time. During Father Koliński’s absence June 7-16 Father Rice will conduct the ongoing
affairs of the parish. If you have any questions or pressing needs, please contact him.
THE WOMEN’S CENTER
We celebrate Father’s Day during June. Many fathers feel a deep loss and sadness due to the abortion of their
child. At The Women’s Center, we reduce the number of abortions by saving approximately 1,000 babies each year.
We are able to do this because of the counseling, spiritual, and material help which you enable us to provide our
families.
Volunteers are needed: 1) to answer calls in our Chicago and Evergreen Park counseling offices. For
information call 773-794-1313, 2) someone with a truck who is willing to transport baby items to Our Lady of
Knock in Calumet City. Call Peg at 773-794-3292, 3) a volunteer to promote our newsletter to schools and
individuals. The newsletter, for young people, features stories about saints, God’s love for us, pro-life ideas, plus fun
things. To help call Pat at 773-794-4777, and 4) volunteers to pick up baby furniture. Call 773-794-1313.
Diapers in sizes 4, 5, and 6 only are needed. Call 773-794-3292 for diaper donation. We need boy’s and girl’s
summer clothes in sizes 3-16, infant sleepers, crib sheets and bumper pads. We also need 5 baby cribs, odd crib
parts for repairs, 7 infant/carrier car seats, 3 toddler beds, 2 bouncers, 2 small chests of drawers, 2 changing tables, 3
Pack N Plays and 5 baby swings. It will be a great help if you can deliver these to us. For our address, or if a pick
up is needed, please call 773-794-1313. All clothing needs to be dropped off unless accompanied by baby furniture.
The families who receive these items are grateful for your generosity.
If you shop at Dominick’s Food Stores and register your Fresh Values card with The Women's Center, we earn
a percentage of what you spend. You can shop any day and at any time of day. Please call us at 773-794-1313 to
register your card.
