Ben / Nuestro Enfoque de la Fe con Padre Ben May 15, 2016 The Holy SpiritThe Lord and the Giver of Life El Espíritu Santo El Señor y Dador de Vida Dear brothers and sisters, in our journey here on earth, we know how precious life is in the different spheres of human realities and interactions. When we talk about life, we do not limit our thoughts to individuals but to the communities that shape the life of the individual. This understanding helps us to appreciate the role of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the individuals and of the Church. The Holy Spirit Dóminum et Vivificántem (the Lord and the giver of life) is the fountain of water springing up to eternal life (John 4: 14). The Spirit dwells in the Church (communal sanctification) and in the hearts of the faithful (personal sanctification) as we pray “Come Holy Spirit dwell in the heart of the faithful, and kindle in them, the power of your love.” The Spirit prays and bears witness in us as adopted children (Gal 4:6; Rom 8: 15-16). He guides the Church in the way of all truth (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit unites us in fellowship and ministry (Eph 4: 11-12; 1 Corinthians 12: 4; Gal 5: 22). It is the Holy Spirit that has guided the Church in the last two thousand years amidst the joys and sorrows of the present life. Without the Holy Spirit, the Church wouldn’t have survived many persecutions, trials, accusations, scandals, and calumnies of those who tend to fight the Lord and His Church. In the different Councils of the Church; from the Council of Jerusalem to the Council of Ephesus, from the Council of Nicaea to the Council of Trent and from the Council of Constantinople to the Second Vatican Council, we see how the power of the Holy Spirit has guided the Church to all truth (John 16: 13). Under the guidance and the strength from the Divine Spirit, the Church has survived many heresies, overcome different schisms, fights countless battles, encounters numerous revivals, and filled with new insights and renewed commitments. In the Holy Spirit, the Church is victorious in hardships, blessed in good works, active in ministries and prosperous in number of believers. With the power of the Holy Spirit, the Church is a sanctuary of holiness, a refuge of sinners, and a fortress of hope for the poor and the marginalized. In this feast of the Holy Spirit, we are called to become a more engaging Church ready to stand our ground to defend the values and the truth of our faith. Let us use the occasion of this feast of the Church to ask God to inaugurate in us a new chapter of evangelization full of fervour, joy, generosity, courage, boundless love, and attraction (Evangelium Gaudium, 261). Let us join Pope Francis to advocate for a spirit-filled evangelization guided by the Holy Spirit. According to the Holy Father, a full time Christians don’t sit down to admire their faith in the reflection of a mirror, nor talk about it over dinner, but they come out of themselves, embrace their cross with courage and walk the streets to share with everybody the joy of the Gospel. May the Power of the Holy Spirit renew our lives and our Church, Amen. Have a Spirit-filled Week!!! It started with a small collection after one of the novena masses in 2015, where our congregation donated $60. Then Kathryn Cramm accepted the leadership to make this goal a reality. Within four months the community was able to collect $17,927.26 to move forward. Many prayers were said by the Divine Mercy Ministry for funds to come in for this beautiful window. Last week Fr. Ben blessed the stained glass window and you can now see it’s beauty in the Chapel We are very thankful to every single person who donated their hard earned money to make this a reality. Jesus, I Trust in You!
