Pentecost Sunday is an ancient feast of the Church, mentioned in the
Acts of the Apostles and also in St. Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians. Pentecost marks the dramatic descent of the promised Holy
Spirit upon the twelve Apostles. The tongues of fire that hovered over
each disciple represent the Holy Spirit lighting a fire of truth and authority which is given to the Apostles. For that reason, it is often called the
"the birthday of the Church." This is also considered to be the origin of
the Sacrament of Confirmation when the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit
are passed on to the baptized. In the early Church, Confirmation was
conducted by the laying of hands upon a baptized individual. Today we
preserve this action, but we also anoint the person with the Oil of
Chrism. After Confirmation, the person is called "an Anointed One" or in
Greek, "a Chrismated One" which is better known as "a Christian". The
anointing seals the grace of Baptism and infuses a sanctifying presence
of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit which are found listed in the Old
Testament book of Isaiah, chapter 11. "The gifts of the Holy Spirit complete and perfect the virtues of those who receive them" (CCC 1831).
SACRAMENTS vs. SACRAMENTALS
Q: What is a sacrament?
A: A sacrament is a visible sign of God's grace in action. We are saved by
God's grace. The 7 sacraments are ways in which that grace is imparted
to us. They are tangible. Visible action. Not just ideas or concepts.
Q: What is a sacramental?
A: A sacramental is anything set apart or blessed by the Church to excite
good thoughts and to increase devotion. Examples include: the Rosary,
Miraculous Medal, Divine Mercy, the Scapular, holy water, ashes, blessed
candles, palms, crucifixes, and more.
Q: What is the difference between a sacrament and a sacramental?
A: Sacraments were instituted by Jesus Christ; the sacramentals were
instituted by the Church. The sacraments give grace of themselves when
no obstacles are placed in the way; the sacramentals excite in us pious
dispositions, by means of which we may obtain grace.
Q: Is it the sacramental itself that gives grace?
A: No, it is not the sacramental itself that gives grace, but the devotion, the
love of God, or sorrow for sin that it inspires. In using the sacramentals,
the more devotion we have, the more grace we receive.

"Into the Wild" is an authentically masculine outdoor, experiential retreat weekend. It’s hosted by The King's Men, a Catholic apostolate
aimed at men who pledge to unite and build up each other in the mold
of leader, protector, and provider through education, formation, healing, and action. The schedule features rugged cabin accommodations
— wire bed frames only, no mattresses — talks, orienteering training
and competition, outdoor-style church construction, fishing, archery, a
wild game feast, rosary, Mass, and adoration. The next retreat will be

Como usted a de saber, la parroquia de San Enrique esta en proceso de
construir un campus nuevo. Nuestra siguiente fase de construcción será
construir la parroquia principal - nuestro centro de adoración. El plan para
esta etapa ya a comenzado. Usaremos el resto de año 2015 y todo el año
2016 para diseñar apropiadamente una parroquia que verdaderamente
parezca Católica. Si todo marcha bien, la parroquia conducirá una recaudación de fondos en el año 2017 y comenzaremos la construcción en el
2018. Hasta que esta fase se termine, nos reunimos en el salón de la parroquia para la Misa Dominical y otras celebraciones litúrgicas. El salón
también se usa para eventos parroquiales no litúrgicos, razón por la cual
construimos una hermosa capilla que reservamos para orar. La capilla
esta abierta durante la semana en horas de oficina.
Algunos recordatorios para su beneficio:
1. Si usted es nuevo en nuestra parroquia, por favor regístrese en la oficina durante el horario de oficina.
2. Favor de no masticar chicle o fumar en la propiedad parroquial.
3. Pedimos a los padres que acompañen a los niños a el baño si necesitan ir durante la Misa.
4. Miembros de la parroquia rezan el rosario 30 minutos antes de cada
Misa en la capilla al lado del salón. Todos son bienvenidos a reunirse a
esta devoción y preparación para la Misa.
Fiesta de Pentecostés
Domingo de Pentecostés es una fiesta antigua de la
Iglesia, mencionada en los Hechos de los Apóstoles
y también en la Primera Carta de San Pablo a los
Corintios. Pentecostés marca el descenso dramático prometido del Espíritu Santo sobre los doce
Apóstoles. Las lenguas de fuego que cayeron sobre
cada discípulo representan el Espíritu Santo iluminando un fuego de verdad y autoridad que es dada
a los Apóstoles. Por esa razón, usualmente se le llama" el cumpleaños
de la Iglesia. Esto también se considera ser el origen del sacramento de
Confirmación cuando los siete dones del Espíritu Santo pasan a el bautizado. En los inicios de la Iglesia, la Confirmación se conducía colocando
las manos sobre el individuo bautizado. Hoy conservamos esta acción,
pero también ungimos a la persona con el aceite de crisma. Después de
la Confirmación, la persona es llamada "un/a Ungido/a” o en griego, "un
Carismático" mejor conocido como "un Cristiano". La unción sella la gracia del bautismo e infunde la presencia santificadora de los siete dones
del Espíritu Santo la cual se encuentra en el libro del Antiguo Testamento en Isaías capitulo 11. "Los dones del Espíritu Santo completan y llevan a su perfección las virtudes de quienes los reciben” (CCC 1831).
¡Se Aproxima el Plazo Para las Becas!
El Concilio Concejal Pastoral de la Parroquia San Enrique anuncia sus
becas 2015 para estudiantes y jóvenes que iniciaran high school. El concilio otorgará dos becas (2) $300 para graduados de high school y una beca
(1) $100 para graduados de Jr. high (8 grado).
Las aplicaciones para estas becas están disponibles en la oficina parroquial. Todo solicitante DEBE ser miembro de una familia registrada en la
parroquia. Fecha de aplicar vence el 30 de mayo.

2015 student scholarships for
graduating high school students
and teens entering high school.
The council will award two (2)
$300 scholarships to high school
graduates and one (1) $100
scholarship to a Jr. High/Middle
school graduate. Scholarship
applications are available at the
parish office. All applicants MUST
be members of a family that is
registered with the parish.
Deadline to apply is May 30th.
