2014 Board of Directors
The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce recently
held its annual Board of Directors Retreat at the Heber
Springs Community Center. On hand to facilitate the retreat
was Susie Marks, Senior Vice-President of Programs at the
Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Marks
challenged the board to create and implement clear and
concise goals for the chamber. The 2014 Board of Directors
are: Jayson Jones, President; Dr. Pete Harris, VicePresident; Louis Short, Secretary; Debbie Thompson,
Treasurer; Justin Johnston, Brett Graham, Kelly Buckliew, Jim
Adams, Netta Thomas, Traci Tutor, Rena' Kelley, Dr. Joe
Sugg, Will Humphreys, Mayor Jackie McPherson, and Judge
Jerry Holmes.

Community Center. Guests were treated
to a spectacular lunch and given an
opportunity to learn more about the
facility and all it offers the community.

Volunteer Spotlight
Jayson Jones
First and foremost I would like to thank Dr. Joe Sugg for his
service to the Chamber as President over the past year. He now
becomes a member of a distinguished list of Past Presidents, will
continue to serve in an advisory capacity for the next year, and will
remain to be a valuable asset to the community. Many thanks to
him for the hours served in order to continue the Chamber's
mission. If you have the opportunity to see Joe's wife Ali and/or
their two children please thank them as well, because it is goes
without saying they are serving alongside as well.
We had a very successful 2013 which had highlights ranging from
Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys as our Keynote Speaker at our
Banquet to kick off the year, to the historical 50th Anniversary of
Greers Ferry Dam with former President Clinton and other local
and state dignitaries in attendance. Our festivals continued to
prove tourism is as strong as ever and that we can provide a
premier destination, for Arkansas and the Mid-South. Although
we are a small community, we have some extraordinary assets in
our people and their abilities, to all the members and volunteers of
the Chamber, without your support this is not possible. We are
looking to make 2014 a banner year as well!
We have started the New Year with our Annual Board Retreat at
the Community Center. We welcomed three new board
members, Netta Thomas, Kelly Buckliew and Brett Graham and
we also have a very exceptional slate of returning board members
who truly love their roles and carry out their duties competently
and enthusiastically. At the retreat we were able to set our 2014
Calendar with dates for our upcoming Events /Festivals and more
importantly set Short/Long range Goals. We were also fortunate
enough to have a guest speaker, Susie Marks, who is a Sr. Vice
President of Programs at the Arkansas State Chamber of
Commerce. Ms. Mark's presentation was very informative and
educational, as we came away with various opportunities to better
serve and even enhance your membership in your Chamber.

enjoy local entertainment provided by our High School Music
department, and hear the Keynote Speaker ,Steve Clark, who is
currently President/CEO of the Fayetteville Chamber of

example of what being a volunteer is all
about! She spends countless hours as
an officer of our local Lions Club and
NAARF and also is a dedicated
ambassador for our chamber. Thank

community!
