PAGE 1 Feast of St. Lawrence! The Welcoming Committee will serve complimentary ice cream after our 7:00 p.m. evening Mass on Wednesday, August 10, so that we might all linger and wish one another a “Happy Feast Day!” From the Pastor’s Hand Greetings in the Risen Lord! In the Gospel this Sunday, Jesus tells a story (parable) about a Master who is so thankful for the vigilance of those caring for his home, that the table literally gets turned; he has the servants recline at table and he himself actually begins to wait on them. Such deeply felt “thanksgiving” can indeed cause us to completely shift the way we interact with those in the world around us. No wonder “thanksgiving” (“Eucharist” in Greek) is at the heart of our prayer as Christians; our Master, Jesus, serves/saves us by His suffering and death on the altar of the cross; we keep His command to remember this act of love by celebrating the Eucharistic meal that Christian Initiation of Children He Himself attached to His suffering and death at the table of the Last Age seven and older takes place in a comSupper. munity of young inquirers who préparé for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist during the Octave of Easter. Since by Jesus’ own design “thanksgiving” is THE most intimate way of being in communion with Him, the Master, “thanksgiving” then THE BAPTISM OF INFANTS Is célébratéd on thé first Saturday of thé needs to be central to every aspect of our spiritual lives as Chrismonth (English) and last Saturday of the tians! What are you most thankful for today or this past week? How month (Spanish), except during Lent. will you “turn the table” in the life of a friend (or stranger) this coming week, because you chose to express “thanksgiving?” SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING Saturdays during 9:00 a.m. Mass and upon request.
