Get to Know Our Fayette County Homemakers Clubs The Nicholasville Pike Club was organized in the year 1930. In a few years, the membership was 35 ladies with a waiting list to join. The club’s locale was included along Nicholasville Pike and Albany Road when the city of Lexington was growing outward during the Depression years. Meetings were held in homes one day each month. Meetings began at 10:00 a.m. and included lessons and business. Following lunch, a craft workshop was presented and enjoyed by all. As the years went on the club did change from a large group to now we have just 11 members and meet at 10:30 a.m. with business and lessons from the FCS Agents. We still meet in the homes of members and have lunch and fellowship. The club does participate and volunteer in donations to “Coins for Change” “Ovarian Cancer” “Joy of Giving at a Nursing Home” “Military Missions” “Diaper Bank” and “4-H Camp Scholarships”. We have had members serve as County Officers as well as on the Bluegrass Area Council. Submitted by Nicholasville Pike Club…. Embrace Diaper Bank Thank You We would like to extend a HUGE thank you for your generosity in donating diapers, wipes, rash cream, pullups, swim diapers and $300 to the Embrace Diaper Bank! Donations like this will help countless families in our community for many months to come. These diapers will give parents the security and dignity to provide for their children. Please know all supplies will (literally) change lives, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Embrace Diaper Bank opens that last Saturday of the month from 10:00-12:00. You are all invited to come and check out our set up and how we give out diapers. We do our best to build relationships with our families and make them feel welcome and not just another ticket number. We plan on utilizing the $300 this weekend to purchase supplies needed for the March Diaper Bank (however, that $300 will stretch much further than this month). When those supplies are bought, we will send you a follow up message to share the purchases. Now….drum roll….here are diapers in numbers: Newborn: 84 diapers, Size One: 826 diapers, Size Two: 1,328 diapers, Size Three: 966 diapers, Size Four: 893 diapers, Size Five: 362 diapers, Size Six: 52 diapers, Swimmers: 38 diapers, 2T-3T Pull ups: 26 diapers, 3T4T Pull ups: 92 diapers, Diaper Rash: 27 tubes, and Wet Wipes: 13,044 wipes.
