Everyone on this earth
belongs to God. All are made in his image.
Therefore it is right that all men and women, ‘from
the rising to the setting of the sun’, should know
the God to whom they belong. The only desire of
our God is that all should know and love him and
find in him the
he fulfilment that they seek. Even a
pagan king, like Cyrus (of Persia),
Persia) is used to
further this knowledge of God. Just
ust as Jesus uses
Caesar’s head to make the point again: all belong
to God and the mission of all who acknowledge
that belonging is to help others to find it. This is
exactly what we see Paul, Silvanus and Timothy
doing as they write to the people of Thessalonica
(in Greece),, to whom they carried the Good News
of Jesus Christ.

We welcome warmly any visitors to All Saints’ this
morning. Please come across to the Hall for
refreshment and fellowship after the 10 o’clock
Parish Eucharist,, even if you cannot stay for very
long.
Sunday School meets at 10 o’clock in the Hall this
morning.. It being half term week, Sunday School
does not meet next Sunday, but re-convenes

Patronal Festival of All Saints.

to Matthew (22:15-21
21): Give back to Caesar
what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs

The Pharisees went off
and plotted how they might entrap Jesus in
speech.
They sent their disciples to him, with the
Herodians, saying,
"Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man
and that you teach the way of God in accordance
with the truth.
And you are not concerned with anyone's opinion,
for you do not regard a person's status.

Tell us, then, what is your opinion:
Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?"
Knowing their malice, Jesus said,
"Why are you testing me, you hypocrites?
Show me the coin that pays the census tax."
Then they handed him the Roman coin.
He said to them, "Whose image is this and whose
inscription?"
They replied, "Caesar's."
At that he said to them,
"Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar
and to God what belongs to God."

FATHER DESMOND’S NOTES
THIS WEEK
1. Many thanks to everyone who
contributed to yesterday’s Table-Top Sale. We
look forward to hearing how much money was
raised for All Saints’ Church funds.
2. Two further words of thanks: (1) to the donor
of the cheque for £100, received last week,
towards the re-furbishment of our Hall kitchen
in 2015; (2) to S Helen’s College, for organising
last week-end, from All Saints’, the collection,
by the Hillingdon Foodbank, of their Harvest
Festival food donations and ours.
3. An up-dated list of our Social Events’ Calendar
is now available for you to take away. You will
find it on the big table. Many thanks to Carol
Clarke for assembling this for us.
4. Also on the big table are some copies of a
‘newsy’ church publication entitled Together.
Please help yourselves. I have asked for just ten
copies to begin with; if we run out, I can obtain
some more.
5. I give early notice that I would like us to have a
short (three-part) Advent Course this year. It
will meet at the Vicarage for an hour from 7.30
pm on 3, 9 & 16 December for a period of
silence, prayer and reflection. We shall use the
newly-published CofE course for the Christian
journey called Pilgrim. It is an excellent
resource and will enable us to make a good
spiritual preparation for Christmas. Please
book these dates in your diary now!
