MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
・ Diploma/ Degree in General Nursing and Midwifery
・ Current registration with South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse and advanced midwife,
. Diploma in Advanced Midwife ry and Neonatal Nursing Science..
Grade 1
・ 4 years minimum experience as a professional nurse after registration with SANC in general nursing.
. Advanced Midwifery / Neonatal Qualification.
Grade 2
・ A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after registration
as a professional nurse with SANC, of which at least 10 years must be
appropriate/recognizable experience in the maternity services
after obtaining one year post basic qualification
in Advanced Midwifery.
NB: Certificate of service from the previous employer which is compulsory,
please include verification of employment from current employer which must
be endorsed and signed by Human Resources.
RECOMMENDATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING AND COMPETENCE REQUIRED:
・ Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes and other
relevant legal frameworks i.e. Nursing Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act,
Patient’s Rights Charter, Batho Pele Principles, Public Service Regulation,
Grievance Procedures etc.
・ Leadership, Organisational, Decision Making and Problem Solving Abilities.
・ Interpersonal skills including Public Relations, Negotiating, Conflict Handling and
Counselling skills.
・ Good communication skills
・ Financial and Budgetary knowledge pertaining to relevant resources under
management.
・ Insight into procedures and policies pertaining to nursing care.

・ To plan/organise and monitor the objectives of the specialised unit in consultation
with subordinates.
・ To provide a therapeutic environment for staff, patients and the public.
・ To provide a comprehensive, quality nursing care as a member of a multidisciplinary
team according to the identified needs of the patient based on scientific principles.
・ To delegate duties and support staff in the execution of patient care delivery.
・ Ability to manage obstetrical emergencies.
・ Adhere to guidelines, protocols as a measure to reduce maternal and neonatal
mortality and morbidity.
・ To evaluate staff on work performance ( Employee Performance Development
System)
・ Participate in clinical audits.
・ Participate in staff development programmes.
・ Participate in outreach and awareness programmes.
・ Maintain accurate record keeping.
・ Promote, provide and support integrated PMTCT, MBFI and IYCF initiatives.
・ To execute disciplinary code and grievance procedures.
・ Assess, screen, diagnose and manage patient as per MNCWH guidelines.
・ Implement employee assistance plan.
・ Participate in multi-disciplinary quality assurance task team such as the
