The contents of this Circular Minute should be brought to the notice of all eligible officers and
employees on your establishment without delay. Also notify all candidates who qualify for the
post in this circular minute even if they are absent from their place of work.
DIRECTIONS TO CANDIDATES
1. The following documents must be submitted:(a) Application for employment form (Z83), which is obtainable at any Government
department or from the website- www.kznhealth.gov.za.
(b) Certified copies of highest educational qualifications and professional registration
– not copies of certified copies
(c) Certified copy of Identity Document
(d) Curriculum Vitae
(e) Faxed and e-mailed applications will not be accepted.
2. The Reference Number must be indicated in the column provided on the Z83 , e.g.

N.B. Failure to comply with the above instruction will disqualify applicants.

SALARY : Gr. 1: R 275 571.00 – R 319 473.00 per annum
A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as professional
nurse with SANC in General Nurse.
Gr. 2: R 338 931.00 – R 416 850.00 per annum
A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as professional
nurse with SANC in General Nursing, of which 10 years must be appropriate/recognizable experience after
obtaining the one year post basic qualification in a Specialty field.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:




Matric/Senior Certificate or Grade 12
Degree / Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
Registration with S.A.N.C. as a General Nurse and/or Midwife or Accoucher
At least one year post basic qualification (specialty) in Advanced Midwifery plus 4 years
appropriate / recognizable registration experience as a General Nurse.
 Proof of current registration with SANC.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
 Knowledge of nursing care process and procedures, nursing statutes and other relevant legal
framework
 Leadership, organizational, decision marking and problem solving abilities within the limit of
the public sector
 Interpersonal skills include public relations, negotiation, conflict and counseling skills
 Financial and budgetary knowledge pertaining to the relevant resources under management
 Insight into procedure and polices pertaining to the nursing care
 Supervisory and analytical thinking skills
 Good communication skills

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
 Develop and implement quality assurance programs, policies and operational plans for the
unit
 Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and
standard as determined by the institution
 Exercise control over discipline, grievances and all labour relations issues
 Develop/establish and maintain constructive working relation with nursing and other
stakeholders
 Provide a safe therapeutic environment that allows for the practice of nursing care as laid by
the nursing act, occupational health and act and all other application of prescripts
 To provide nursing care that leads to improve service delivery by upholding Batho Pele
principles
 Co-ordinate operation Sukuma Sakhe Programme for the local Task Team.
 Manage and direct efficient and effective use of Human and Material resource
 Knowledge of MCWH priority programme.
