Essential













A qualified teacher of English with at least two years of experience of successfully teaching
English at KS3 and KS4.
Passionate about teaching English.
Evidence of raising standards of English.
Evidence of contributing to the development of a team/ department.
Ability to make a good contribution to the work of a team of English and other specialists.
Good understanding of the demands of GCSE and of standards at GCSE.
Good understanding of the importance of the Y7 – Y9 English curriculum.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to mark pupils’ work effectively.
Ability to contribute to the development of other teachers and professionals.
Ability to contribute to the training of other teachers and professionals.
Commitment to on going training and development.
Ability to lead an area of development including managing and monitoring the work of
others.
NB
Experience of teaching KS5 is not necessary. There may be opportunities for the successful
candidate but this is not essential.
Experience of teaching pupils with EAL needs is not necessary. This post will provide the successful
candidate the opportunities to develop these skills.
