Amidst a focus on learning and every pupil achieving their best in the core subjects, we are also very pleased with the artwork, the sporting achievements and the further development of many personal skills pupils in Year 5 and 6 have shown. World Book Day saw some wonderful pictures taken of children reading in an unusual place-for example: in an airplane cockpit, a shower, a fire engine and at Trafalgar Square! Hopefully this has inspired our children to read a new author or series of books and understand just how important reading is. Thank you for the time and support you have given our children with their reading, spelling and other home-learning as well as revision for the Year 6 pupils. The impact of your support is highly significant and very much appreciated. The end of key stage two national tests (SATs) for Year 6 pupils will take place during the week beginning May 11th and the internal tests for Year 5 pupils during the week beginning June 22nd. All children need to be in school every day for these weeks. The Summer term is going to be another busy term, packed with exciting opportunities for our pupils. Events include: the Year 6 residential to Whitemoor Lakes and a themed, activity week for our Year 5 pupils during week beginning 8th June, entitled ‘Hazards’. On Friday 5th June there will be a trip for Year 5 children to begin their activity week learning (details to follow). On Wednesday 29th April at 7pm there will be an information evening for parents of Year 6 pupils regarding the residential. It is advisable that all parents attend. This term will also include the usual events such as sports day- 22nd June; Arts Week- week beginning 29th June; a visit to Moulton school for Year 5 on Wednesday 1st July; and a leavers’ service and party for the pupils at the end of this year. As with other years, we plan to arrange a special performance by Year 6 to allow parents and staff to enjoy these talented young people before they leave us. Ensure that during these summer months your child has a plastic water bottle in school each day to allow regular drinks of water. All children can use the chilled filtered water to refill their bottles. It is also advisable that children wear a cap or similar sun protection when outside; please make sure that these items are named. Do not hesitate to come into school and arrange to see your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Yours faithfully, Miss Heather Fyfe Mrs Sue Burton Mr Liam Cox Mrs Sarah Adams Miss Lindsay de Rossi Mrs Sally Barber
