2007 – October
October 2007 President’s Message It was wonderful to see so many new faces last month as we launched another very exciting season. I hope you found Diana Birrell’s story as inspirational and moving as I did. It is truly a homegrown Peterborough movement that is inspiring hope for families across this country. Please look for the September issue of the Business Advantage Magazine. This month features Women in Business and the Women’s Business Network. This is the sixth consecutive year your Board will be featured on the cover of the magazine. Our Christmas event, being held at The Parkway Centre, is well on its way to meeting this year’s fundraising goal of $25,000. Your Social Directors have initiated a monthly draw for those who bring in their auction items early. September’s winner of a WBN mug and portfolio is Sue Hosang of Weekenders. Please remember to use the membership directory for ideas of what to contribute. Our next meeting will be held on October 3rd. Remember to RSVP promptly to your board member when she contacts you. Our confirmation numbers must be in by the Friday prior to the event. Guest registration is accepted through the website. Don’t forget, we now accept VISA, MasterCard and American Express!! As we head into the fall season, enjoy the warm days, cool evenings and Mother Nature’s changing landscape. October 3rd, 2007 Robin Dines: The Hillcrest - A Valenova Inn & Spa R obin believes strongly in the difference that wellness can make in one’s life. She is a certified Stress and Wellness Consultant who uses her skills to assist others in changing their lives via finding a healthy balance. Presently, as the owner of The Hillcrest Inn and spa in Port Hope, Robin will share her values of “strength through wellness” with the women of WBN. Robin will talk about how to recognize when stress is having an impact on your body and mind. Learn how to understand your ‘satisfiers’ so you can decide how to encourage ‘good’ stress and how to deal with the ‘bad’ stress. It will take years off your body age! In 2004, she closed the corporate chapter of her life - leaving a 22-year executive career in the financial industry. In a bold leap of faith, she acquired The Hillcrest Inn and Spa in Port Hope, formerly a part of the Ste. Anne’s / Haldimand Hills Spa Village. This provided her with a venue to implement some of her most cherished values. Her new company, Valenova Enterprises, embraces the concept of strength through wellness and models excellence in a truly unique way.
