Wellesley Akatarawa
he Wellesley Akatarawa is located on 10 acres bordering a river just 45 minutes by
road from Wellington. It is set in a river valley surrounded by bush clad hills.
The Wellesley Akatarawa offers great value; function rooms, accommodation and
recreational facilities.


TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS
T
o approach the Wellesley Akatarawa
from the south (Wellington side) follow
SH2 north along the river road. Continue
past the Upper Hutt turn off and remain on
SH2. Turn left into Akatarawa Rd. The
Wellesley Akatarawa is fifteen minutes
along this road, number 2120.
When travelling from the north you may
access Akatarawa Road from Waikanae.
Travelling on SH1 south, take a left hand
turn over the railway line at a signed
marked Upper Hutt, which is Akatarawa
Road. The Country Club is 30 minutes
along this road.

FACILITIES
Grand Hall & dining area — 350m2
T
he hall has a lodge style décor featuring two open stone fire places. Comfortable lounge
furniture makes it ideal for small team meetings. Large pull down screens enable the use
of a data presentation and wooden shutters provide black out.
The dining area is a more intimate space with booth seating and river views. Sliding doors
open directly from the café onto the riverside terrace, a large 100m 2 deck equipped with
outdoor furniture. This area is perfect for BBQ’s.
The dining area can seat up to 160 people and is the main venue for dinner service
The Sports & Events Centre — 600m2
T
he Sports & Events Centre, overlooking the river, playing fields and the valley is a full size
gymnasium for indoor recreation and team building. It can also be used as a conference
room or a concert auditorium.
Capacity is 300 people theatre style, 100 classroom style.

ONSITE ACTIVITIES
There are two playgrounds at the Wellesley Country Park; one for the big kids and a fully
fenced one for children under 5 years.
The playground equipment includes trampolines, seesaws, swing and monkey bars.
A wide range of other outdoor activities is available and we are able to provide risk analysis
and management systems for all activities if required

There are a number of sports you can play in the Sports & Events Centre including table tennis,
volley ball, badminton, indoor cricket, basketball and netball.

Akatarawa Valley is a cyclist’s favourite. You are welcome to bring your own bike; we can store it securely.
Walking Tracks
There are plenty of nice walks in the area.

small groups and tidy dormitory facilities for larger groups.

Morning and afternoon teas can be provided which include tea, coffee, cordial and biscuits.
$3.00 per adult, $2.00 child and $1.50 preschool child, per session. A supper of tea, coffee,
hot chocolate and biscuits or cake slice can also be provided for $3 per adult, $2.00 child and
$1.50 preschool child, per session.
We can provide for special requirements and diets but please advise us when you confirm
your booking.

All group camps are expected to assist with dishwashing and the serving of meals throughout the stay.
Should you not wish to assist in this area, a catering duty fee of $10 per person will apply for the entire
stay.
