ngu ( In Indonesian means purple) is one of the top bands
in Indonesia known for their pop style, formed in 1996.
Ungu has 5 members and they are Pasha (vocalist), Enda
(guitarist), Oncy (guitarist), Makki (bassist) and Rowman
(drummer).

Ungu has reached Platinum Award two years after their first single
'Bayang Semu' in the first album 'Laguku' released in 2002.
'Tempat Terindah' as their second album in December 2003, hit the
top chart for 'Karena Dia Kamu' and 'Suara Hati'. The album sold
150,000 copies.
In 2005, the 3rd album put Ungu into the spotlight with their hit single
'Demi Waktu'. They got Platinum Awards only in two weeks after their
album 'Melayang' released, Double Platinum one month later and
Multi Platinum Awards for sold 800,000 records for this album.
Ungu was nominated for Most Favorited Band Duo in MTV Asia 2006
Awards, Best Video Director 'Demi Waktu' Abimael Gandy and Video
of the Year 'Demi Waktu'. And in the same year Ungu gained
mainstream popularity in Malaysia with the release of their single
'Demi Waktu'. Followed by their third album 'Melayang'.
In the same year Ungu released a mini album, SurgaMu to celebrate
Ramadhan in December 2006. 150,000 copies sold in 15 days.
'Untukmu Selamanya' as their 4th album released in 2007, sold
300,000 copies and got Double Platinum Award.
The third mini album 'Aku dan Tuhanku' in 2008 got Double Platinum
for sold 150,000 copies in two days.
'Penguasa Hati' as their latest album also promising like others, in this
album you can get Pop-Rock, Rap and Dangdut in a package. You can
hear in single named 'Hampa Hatiku'.
