and above all down to
earth. She is a woman of
means and is known to bless
everyone with what God has
blessed her with. She is the
quintessential Hajia Bola Shagaya.
Bola Shagaya, unlike
most prominent and very rich
industrialists, was not born
with the proverbial silver
spoon. As a result, through a
dint of hard work, she struggled through times before
getting to the enviable height
she is occupying today. Her
efforts brought her before
queens and kings as well as
granting her recognition before the influential Forbes account.
Consequently,
according to Forbes in 2015,
she made the 10th wealthiest
woman spot in Africa.
The socialite, who
would turn 57 come October
10, was born in 1959 in Kwara
State, her home town. She attended Queens School in
Ilorin for her secondary education and the Ahmadu Bello
University in Zaria and Armstrong College in California,
where she studied Economics
and Accountancy. Bola also
attended Harvard Business
School and a number of other
local and international seminars, workshops and symposiums where she sharpened
her skills towards becoming
the best of what she is today.
As a fresh graduate,
she set everything in motion
to begin a promising career,
and her first port of call was
the Central Bank of Nigeria
(CBN) where she worked with

the Audit Department.
Having acquired veritable experience from the
CBN, she ventured into commercial activities in 1983, beginning with the importation
and distribution of photographic materials under one
of her incorporated companies called Bolmus. She is reputed to have introduced the
Konica brand of photographic
materials into the Nigerian
market and West Africa.
She is also the owner
of Fotofair Nigeria limited,
and her photo laboratory unit
in Victoria Island is no doubt
one of the largest photo laboratories in Nigeria. The
photo laboratory has a net
base of over thirty branches
located in different parts of
the country and over 300
workers employed. A great
feat!
Her prowess is not
limited to the business of
photographic
materials
alone, Hajia Bola Shagaya is
also the Managing Director of
Practoil Limited, one of the
largest importers and distributors of base oil in Nigeria,
serving local lubricant blending plants. Not only that, her
extensive acumen in the
world of buy and sell include
huge investments in real estate, spanning across major
cities in the country with over
three hundred employees.
She is pro-active and
visionary, and so through her
base oil importation, she is
meeting the need of the local
lubricant blending plants. At
the moment, Practoil is building its own plant at Kirikiri,
Lagos State. When completed, it is expected to produce multi-grade oils and
lubricants.
An astute financial
The
wizard, Mrs. Shagaya is on
the board of Unity Bank
(Nigeria) Plc (formerly Intercity Bank) and has been for
about a decade. She is also a
member of the recently inaugurated NEPAD Business
Group, Nigeria.
She is known as a
fashionista, and her display of
good dress sense is a testimony to the assertion. It is
therefore, not surprising that
she is a patron of the Fashion
Designers Association of
Nigeria (FADAN) and a fashion and art enthusiast who
supports and encourages the
fashion and art industry. She
also loves sports, especially
polo. She is also hopelessly in
love with exotic jewellery, especially diamonds, and Deola
Sagoe, Folake Coker, Maureen Onigbanjo, Abba Folawiyo are just a few of her
clothiers.

In July 2010, she was
conferred with a National Honours by the then President

Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele

woman; wife and mother, she
is married to Alhaji Ganiyu
Shagaya, a Kwara State-based
transporter and their union is
blessed with four children,
among whom is Sheriff Shagaya, who got married in
2013.
Though a socialite
who loves reveling, Mrs. Shagaya knows when to open the
door and when to keep it
close. It was gathered from a
recent interview that as a rule
she doesn’t entertain friendly
visitations, no matter how

close, between Monday and
Friday. Consequently, everything social revolves around
the weekends when major
work has been done. That accounts for her serious mindedness, focus and hand work.
A friend of first ladies,
Mrs. Shagaya is known to
have been close to virtually
every recent first lady in the
Nigerian political system, especially Dame Patience
Jonathan, with whom she
forged an enviable relationship. It is believed that her
amiable nature, down to
earth attitude and uprightness endeared her to the
hearts of those in the corridors of power.
A staunch Muslim,
she believes that no matter
what one becomes, God will
always remain number one,
and the revolving factor in
her life. As a result, no matter
where she is or what she’s
doing, she makes it a duty to
go to Mecca at least twice in
a year as well as creates time
to observe her ‘Majrib’.
“That’s my only way to praise
God”, she said.
The stupendously rich
female specie has houses in
London, Abuja, Lagos, Ilorin
and so on, and is to go to bed
every day by 9pm after listening to the 8 O’clock news, and
wakes up daily by 5am to
pray.
Bola Shagaya is
among women who had demystified the African notion
that the place of the woman
is, and ends in the kitchen.
She had, in one brief business
ingenuity, showcased the
stuff women are made of,
and that includes proving
that the female folks are capable threading the paths
men venture.
Consequently ma, for
your dexterity, zeal and informed ability, we crown you
the Boss of the Week. Congratulations!

ome September 10 2016,
the people of
Edo State will be

once again as the
tenure of the incumbent Governor, Comrade
Adams
Oshiohmole, is fast
coming to an end. As
a result, political parties have concluded
primaries and have
elected their various

the opposition Peoples
Democratic
Party (PDP). On June
dependent National
Electoral Commission
(INEC) has recognized 19 political parties and flag bearers
for the all important
election.
Without an
iota of doubt, the
epic battle will sure
centre on the two
biggest rivals; the ruling All Progressives
18, APC conducted
its Governorship primaries amid tension.
At the end of the exercise,
Godwin
Obaseki, currently
chairman of the Edo
State
Economic
Team, beat 11 other
aspirants, to emerge
the APC governorship
candidate.
Obaseki scored 1,608
votes to beat other
prominent aspirants
in the primaries, like
the Deputy Governor
of the state, Dr. Pius
Odubu, who got 471
votes; former Governor of the state,
Prof. Oserhiemen Osunbor, who got 247
votes; former Minister of State for
Works, Dr. Chris
Ogiemwonyi, who
got 137 votes; PDP
candidate in the
2012 governorship
election in the state,
who later defected to
APC, Gen. Charles
Airhiavbere, who got
11 votes and several
others.
Though crisis
was envisaged during
the exercise, but it
never happened as
accreditation of delegates was well managed as a result of an
innovation
introduced by the electoral committee to
accredit at three different locations before voting at the
Samuel Ogbemudia
stadium in Benin City,
with the standard security officers in the
area.
This process
was also adopted by
the PDP, which on
June 20, 2016, conducted its own primaries, producing a
pastor of the Re-
deemed Christian
Church, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu with a
total vote of 584
votes, defeating two
other aspirants; the
President of Nigeria
Institute of Welders,
Dr. Solomon Edebiri,
who polled 38 votes
to come third, and
the two-time state
lawmaker and former Commissioner
representing
Edo
State on the Niger
Delta Development
Commission,
Mr.
Matthew
Iduoriyekemwen, with
91 votes at second
position.
The way it is therefore, the battle is
pitched between Mr.
Godwin Obaseki of
the APC and Pastor
Ize-Iyamu of the PDP.
Edo State, better
known as ‘The Heartbeat of the Nation’,
has been under the
control of the then
Action Congress (AC),
which later metamorphosed into the
All Progressives Congress, since March
20, 2008, after an
election tribunal nullified the election of
Oseheimen Osubor
of the Peoples Democratic Party, and declared

tested and won the governorship election. ACN later
merged with All Nigeria

said to have been favoured
by the party’s leaders, who,
as gathered, instructed delegates to ensure he won
the delegates election. It is
Battle Line and Strength of

Ize-Iyamu,
no
doubt, secured the votes of
the PDP delegates because
of his antecedents. In 2007,
he was instrumental to the
formation of Grace Group
with the slogan “No Man Is
God”, which later fussed
with the then Advanced
Congress of Democrats, Action Congress, which later
became Action Congress of
Nigeria, the platform on
which Oshiomhole con-
well as factions of All Progressives Grand Alliance
and Democratic People
Party to form APC.
When Ize-Iyamu left
APC and went back to PDP,
the party’s hierarchy, which
hitherto did not want to
see him because of the role
he played in the 2007 governorship election, accepted him as a force that
could give the Oshiomhole
led APC a run for their
money. That was why during the primaries, he was
believed that he knows the
in and out of the APC as a
party, and can cause an
upset. That alleged instruction was behind the anger
of the other two contestants in the race.
In his remarks, he
confirmed that he was
ready to upset the apple
cart to favour PDP. In his acceptance speech, he
boasted that the days of
APC in Edo was over,
adding that the September
10 election is PDP’s chance

to keep the aspiration and
hope of the people alive.
However, Iyamu is
bedeviled by several odds,
which could pitch the electorates against him. Among
such include his years of
stewardship as a former
Chief of Staff and Secretary
to the Government of Edo
State during the administration of Chief Lucky Igbinedion, who is widely
believed to have grossly
underperformed. The PDP
flag bearer such has a lot of
explanations to make to
convince the Edo electorate that he would be
better than his former
boss.
Also,
Ize-Iyamu
would have a tough time in
convincing the other aspirants, who are aggrieved,
to work with him in the
forth coming governorship
election. Shortly after the
declaration of the result of
the primaries, one of the
contestants, Edebiri, declared that the result was
unacceptable, alleging that
the state executive of the
party, led by Chief Dan
Orbih, coerced delegates
into voting for Ize-Iyamu.
Furthermore, IzeIyamu is currently in controversy over a N700
million 2015 presidential
election campaign fund
that Edo State received,
which was allegedly signed
by him. Severally in the
build up to the party primaries, he had been invited along with other
leaders of the PDP in the
state for explanations regarding the money.
Another odd against
Ize-Iyamu and PDP in Edo
State is that there is cur-

primary election as a “comedy” which was “clinically
manipulated” to favour a
preferred candidate of the
state leadership of the
party.
While It seems the
PDP may be its own greatest opponent at the September 10 election in Edo
State, they could still cause
a swing as the Igbinedions
and Ikimis may take the
2016 governorship contest
as a medium of furthering
the personal political battles they have fought with
Oshiomhole in the past
seven years.
But according to a
political analyst, Dr. Francis
Edosoma, based in Benin,
the results of the last elections confirmed that each
of the two parties is strong
enough to produce the
next government of the
state to succeed Oshiomhole. But given Oshiomhole’s
superlative
performance, his party remains the party to beat in
2016.
Dr. Francis emphasized that, a lot depends on
the level of unity of each of
the parties, how far they
would be willing to carry
the people along, the quality and acceptability of
their candidate and the
level of their preparedness
for the election. “So, I
think the winner will be the
one that prepared better
and the one that made the
right choice of governorship candidate.
“It must however be
clear to APC that PDP is still
strong in this state. So, if
the party wants to continue to occupy the Edo
Government House after
the Comrade, it must prepare well and be wise and
fair when it wants to pick
its flag bearer,” he concluded.
The strength of the
two political parties, APC
and PDP in Edo State could
be determined from the result of the 2015 Presiden-

Ban on Street Hawking: Unsteady Giant Leap
Story: Blessing Ehidiamen
When one is stuck in traffic
for hours and the only thing
that could be heard of is the
sound of your stomach, glad
that you could at least
quench the hunger with
sausage and soft drink only
for you to realize that what
introduced in ensuring that
the people abide to the law.
In the next few days, signboards will be imputed on
the street of Lagos warning
buyers and hawkers to be
aware of the consequences if
they go against the law.
ently, it is the hawkers that
suffer the most. Though they
go against the law, who will
buy their commodities? Nobody wants to fall victim. On
the other hand, traffic in
Lagos is exhausting, requiring
one to revitalize the body
you about to do is a crime.
Recently, Lagosians were
struck with the news that it is
an offence for both buyers
and sellers to transact business on the streets, especially
on highways.
Speaking at a live interview session on Television
Continental, the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode,
said that the renewed enforcement is in line with section one of the Lagos State
Street Trading and Illegal
Market Prohibition Law 2003
which restricts street trading
and hawking in the metropolis. Evidently, anyone found
guilty will be fine either N90,
000 or six month jail term. To
prove that the government
officials are in for real business, new strategies will be
Governor Ambode also went
further to say that his administration has concluded plans
to roll out a massive campaign which would warn both
motorists and hawkers of the
restrictions and the penalty
for defaulters.
“We will be watching
out for buyers and sellers,
and all we need is just a
scapegoat. Don’t buy plantain
chips or any other item in
traffic from July 1; buyers beware,” Governor Ambode
warned.
Consequently, it has
been observed that street
trading is reducing due to fear
of being caught and facing
the music. This has been a
general problem because 90
per cent of residents in Lagos
are being affected. But appar-
with either water or food
needed for the strength to
carry on. But, today in traffic,
one will have to swallow
his/her saliva till one gets to
his/her destination.
Certainly, the law didn’t just come out from the
blue as one thing led to another. It is a known fact that
the death of a street hawker
who was trying to evade the
arrest of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and got crushed by
an articulated truck along
Maryland Bus stop was part
of what led to the imposition
of the law. But that was not
exactly what provoked the
administration; the destruction of government properties of over 49 BRT buses and
the fact that that it has added
to the expenses of the gov-
ernment was actually the reason for the ban.
Apparently, there are
two loses here, a life and perishable commodities. Following what the Governor said:
“it is not in our DNA to allow
someone to just die by the
road accident or the way it
happened in respect of the
incident. But beyond the fact
that we lost one person while
crossing the road as a result
of evading the arrest by KAI
officials, I needed to tell
Lagosians that over 49 buses
were actually destroyed and
it is costing us like almost
N139 million to put those
buses back on the road” the
question is; what is the governor more concern about?
The lost life or the damage
buses?
So, it happened that
the poor boy met his death
while hawking on the street
leading to the outraged of
hoodlums thinking it was a
BRT that knocked him down.
But has the Governor failed
to ask himself what will cause
the boy to hawk on the street
in the first place. Certainly,
one can’t just wake up one
morning and say he/she
wants to join the hawking
business which of course is a
very unpleasant and difficult
task to do neither can it be
said to be a hobby.
Apparently, the real
cause of street hawking is
poverty and unemployment.
Going back to what Governor
Ambode has said, the state
government intends to be
civil in enforcing the law. Ask
what plans the government
has for the unemployed graduates who have taken to
street hawking, the governor
said that his administration
has launched a N25billion
Employment Trust Fund, urg-
NEWS
ing them to access the fund”
is that even good enough.
Aren’t Nigerians tired of procrastination rather eventual
actions? This people that
took to street hawking are
helpless as their only means
of survival are being taken
away from them. Where we
their source of living, do they
have anything to replace it
with? A whole lot of them use
this hawking to cater for their
families, and now you have
taken that source from them.
There are lots of things the
government can do to take
away this street hawking in-
and at the same time, you
can’t push the people away
hence it will create more nuisance.”
In his response, another resident, Daniel Nyang, said:
“Street hawking is generally
bad; it is because of the economy situation that is why it is
they turn to? Although, there
are the bad ones among
them whom claim they are
hawking but used the
medium to execute evil plans
such as robbing, pocket picking and so on. Some others
sell fake products or expired
products to buyers. Notwithstanding that the government
needs to call a spade a spade,
if there are jobs and better
standard of living this wouldn’t have become a topic of
discussion in Nigeria.
It
appears
that
Lagosians have mixed feelings
over this enactment. Melvin,
a resident of Ikeja Lagos said
“the banning of street hawkers is like a coin with two; it
has the good side and the
bad side, but the bad aspect
of it is higher than the good.
Now that the government
has banned them, taking
stead of asking them to live
the streets”.
When asked about
the advice he can give the
government on this issue, he
said “In the Europe, they
have social security if you
don’t work; we don’t have
that here. We can create
business environment, but
when the government set it
up they share it among themselves making it difficult for
citizens to access. By the time
they make it available to all
these streets hawkers, it is no
longer affordable, and they
go back to the street”
Okoro Oghogho, a
youth corper said responded
to the Boss Newspapers enquiry thus: “there is no construction
without
destruction, the government
is trying to bring sanity and
orderliness to the society,
so. Looking at the dangers involve, like getting hit by a car,
it is not advisable, but the attraction is that it is not capital
intensive compared to the
owning stalls. With N2, 000
one can buy things and start
hawking them on the street
but you can’t use that N2,
000 to buy a stall in the market. When you look at all
these street hawkers, the
capital based of their money
is not more than N2, 000 that
explains how bad the country
is. They can be banned from
the expressways, but not on
the streets; it has been with
us for a long time now and
has become a tradition. I support the government to ban
them from the expressways,
but not from the streets because it doesn’t pose any
danger.”
Jide Bisiriyu, who
The
BOSS NEWSPAPER
11
claimed that he had once
hawked on the streets of
Lagos, said the is wrong to
have banned hawkers, saying
they hawkers should been
asked to form an association.
“The
government
can’t just ban without making
provision for it. Let the street
hawkers form an association
and tell them what to do and
ways in which they can carry
out their activities without
posing any threat to the society,” he said.
A street hawker, who identified herself as Mrs. Idowu
said “it is very unfair. Even the
graduates don’t even have
jobs not to talk of us hawkers
who have little or no education. This is our only source of
income through which our
children are fed and educated, and I know that when
they graduate, they will take
this load off my head. We are
pleading for them to temper
justice with mercy because I
don’t have any other means
of income.”
But according to a social analyst, who pleaded
anonymity, there is good and
bad in every situation. “The
banning of street hawkers will
reduce the rate of highway
robbery but it should also be
noted that same banning of
street hawkers can lead to increase rate of robbery with
the rate of joblessness. It
surely cannot be disputed
that Nigeria is facing one of
the toughest economic crisis
at the moment therefore to
deprive some people with a
means of survival is cruel and
thoughtless. A law cannot be
imposed without the provision of a conducive environment that would ensure that
the law is obeyed,” he said.
The way things are, it is obvious that the disadvantages
outweighs the advantages,
and so the government needs
to re-think, and stop taking
unsteady giant leaps.

opinion. Here are some of
them:
I am not in support of
parents selecting courses for

make their own choice. Most
times, we select courses for
our children, but because
they want to obey us, they

The issue about parents selecting course for their children to study in the university
is a two way thing because on
one hand, it is good for the
parent to select courses for
their children to study because the child may not know
what to do when he or she
leaves secondary school, but
on the other hand, it is not
good because the parent is
destroying the passion of the
child.
Parents should however not select courses for
their children to study in the
university because it is inappropriate, they should only
serve as a guide to the child
rather than a form of control
- Jide
In so many cases
where parents select courses
for their children to study, the
child ends up failing the
course because the he is not
in tune with the discipline.
Therefore, in other not to
waste the life of the child, the
child should be allowed to
study whatever course they
wish to study in the university
– Amanda, Model
Based on the present economic situation, parents want
their children to take up certain courses in school because of their lucrative
impact. Parents should have
it in mind that they are there
to serve a guardianship purpose, and not control the life
of the child – Bose, Trader
While I was still in the secondary school, my parents
had always said that they
wanted me to study Medicine
in the university, but I refused
because I wanted to study Engineering, which they agreed
to, but if by chance I had
studied Medicine in the university and eventually become a doctor, nothing says I

How has the journey
into the music industry
been so far
The journey has been
rough, tough, but encouraging. Rough in the
sense that before one
can actually get everybody to like your song,
one needs to imagine
everybody’s mind while
composing which is a bit
hard at the beginning.
This is because I happen
to be someone that listens to critics a lot; this
really delayed my music
journey a lot thinking
everybody has to love
my music before I start
promoting. It is tough in
the sense that financial
support can't be ruled
out in Nigeria music industry, so I battle with
that a lot while trying to
make a head in music
just because there is no
fund available or financial support. It is encouraging in the sense
that anywhere I sing or
play my songs, people
always commend my
style of singing as exceptional, this has been
what keeps me going.
Do you intend signing
with a record label one
day or you are already
with one
Yes definitely, simply because music is never a
one man business, it is
always a team work.
Therefore, a label is always needed, so I so
much look forward to it,
although I was under
one label before but we
E N T E R TA I N M E N T
didn't reach a tangible conclusion before I decided to do
things on my own.
Have your parents been supportive with your line of career
Yes and No. Yes is to my mum
and No is to my Dad. My mum
believes I am always an
achiever base on my educational performances back
then, and she believes everything is possible with God. She
can sing all my past and present songs from A to Z; she is
even the one that motivated
me to include Rap style and
the use of English in my music.
But for my Dad, it is a NO, he
wants me to become an Electrical contractor, which I don't
like at all, so he has never been
supportive till date, because
he used to say music is not an
easy business without a sponsor based on his experience.
He only looked forward to the
day I will be celebrated worldwide before he can believe me.
How have you been able to
convince them that music is
what you want to do
Hmm! At a point, my mum was
almost fed up, but the way my
fans celebrate me encouraged
her, and because she actually
sees that I am so determined,
she decided that she had no
choice but to be supportive.
But my Dad does challenge me
always, but I always make him
realise, music is my calling,
that with God, hard work and
consistency, one day I will
make him proud.
Now that you are a musician,
definitely girls will be all over
you. How have you been able
to handle that

Definitely I will be among the
most celebrated artist in the
world with God on my side,
hard work and consistency in
music.
What should Nigerians and
the world at large expect from
you, I mean, what are you
bringing to the table
Right now, I have decided to
give it my all having been overwhelmed by my fans’ acceptance of my previous singles
and videos and of course the
last video I dropped titled Sexual healing, a cover of the late
soul singer, Marvin Gaye. Right
from that spot, I decided to do
an official re-introduction song
which I titled ‘Call me Surebanty’, which I composed so as
to be able to relate with the
word.
Surebanty, meaning a philanthropist, is a new slang for the
street to be use, and a new tag
name for anybody that has the
habit of giving. SUREBANTY
means a cheerful giver that believe one good turns deserve
another, insinuating that helping people is like helping yourself indirectly because what
goes around comes around. It
is a reality message song comprising catchy rhythm, slangs
for the street with a banging
club dancehall beat, which I officially drop since the 1st of
June 2016 on all entertainment blogs and radios station;
a song you can't just wait to
hear.
What advice do you have for
people out there that have
their heart set in doing music
I will like to advice anybody
that wants to do music to first
search their hearts very well
and see if they actually want to
do music for doing sake or do
it for real, not to be bothered
of how things might be before
you get to the top. This is because music is more difficult to
do or excel in than what many

people think; it entails a lot of
sacrifices that might make you
look like a nuisance at the beginning in the eyes of people
around you, but your determination and passion, with God,
are the things that see artists

The Weekend Playlist is a
weekly music review featuring five songs suggested to
our readers based on the
quality of the songs. The
playlist will offer a critical review of the songs and provide
some background information either about the creation
of the song or the relevance
of the song. The playlist will
give our readers an opportunity to develop a wider
palette for new music and remember some of the old
ones they are already know.
This week’s playlist features
ASA, One Direction, Simi,
Wizkid, Drake and Skepta.
Asa
• New Year By ASA – This
song is actually an album
song from ASA’s studio
album, Bed of Stone, which
she released last year. It
hasn’t been released as a single yet, however, if it was it
would be a certified hit. The
song harmonizes all the elements that we have to come
to love from the Why Can’t
We Be Happy? Singer. It features ASA’s gritty vocals layered on organic production
and we can’t forget those
masterfully crafted lyrics. This
song is the book definition of
a jam and you will definitely
keep it on repeat for the first

hundred listens.
• Steal My Girl By One Direc-
• Jamb Question By Simi –
Simi’s debut into the Nigerian
tion – The British based boy
band have come a long way
since they emerged on the
music scene four years ago.
Steal My Girl, an offering
from their latest album, 4, is
a song that can only be a
made by a band who has
mastered the pop formula. It
is not the same sugar tween
pop sound that the band
used to own but it is still a
feel good summer track. The
production is exciting and
breezy, it doesn’t try too hard
to be a stadium anthem but it
achieves that atmospheric
feel with the help of the boys’
personalized delivery of their
verses. As we prepare for
their next studio album,
which should be dropping
any second now, this is a listen that will remind us why as
tired as we are of seeing
them there, they are still on
our charts.
music scene is probably one
of the more impressive debuts the industry has seen
thus far. Everything about the
song is smart. From the
trendy traditional gone pop
production to the sassy lyrics
and even sassier vocal delivery, Simi is able to bring together the different elements
that have made songs chart
toppers this year and put her
own spin on it. Of all the elements that make the song,
Simi’s vocal delivery is the
champion. Her vocal delivery
saves the song from being a
silly parody tune that merely
becomes ringtone worthy.
Her breathy vocals had a
twinge of sincerity and authenticity to the song that
saves it from falling off the
cliff. It’s a song that is definitely worth a listen and Simi
is definitely an artiste that
should be watched.
• Know Yourself By Drake –
In light of the recent Meek
Mill/Drake feud, that has finally come to an end, this
song is the perfect Drake tune
to be bopping to. The song,
although not a single, is arguably the most memorable
track from Drake’s mix tape If
You’re Reading This, It’s Too
Late, which he released earlier this year. The song is a
winner on many fronts; the
usual poetic tweet –worthy
Drake lyrics, the shout out to
his hometown, the introduction of a new term, the slick
Simi
vocal delivery, the tight rap
flow and most of all, the masterful beat switch that no one
does better than Drake. Drake
promised to release an album
later this year called Views
from The 6. Till whatever is
holding up the release of the
studio album quits it, we’ll
grooving and agreeing with
this Drake classic.
Wizkid
• Ojuelegba (featuring Drake
and Skepta) By Wizkid – If
you haven’t heard about this
remix, you have probably
been living under a rock.
There is always so much hype
whenever a pop start from
the West features or collaborates with a Nigerian artiste
and for the first time in a long
while, the track is worth the
hype. Drake and Skepta are
so masterful with their flow
and delivery, it doesn’t sound
like a remix. It will be hard to
listen to the original song
without the features after
you hear the remix. What
makes the song work the
most is the fact that Drake
and Skepta don’t sound foreign on the track. This is usually the problem with many
songs where foreign artistesm feature; you can tell
they don’t belong on the
song. The reverse is the case
with this song. Hopefully

Portugal, meanwhile,
has managed one of the least
impressive runs to a major

scraping through the group

then Poland on penalties, it

that it won a game inside 90

Ronaldo, Portugal’s talisman
19th century, the game had
spread throughout the rest of
the world.
Today, all continents
and countries of the world
have several tournaments
and national leagues in which
teams play against each other
for the national and continental title. UEFA represents the
national football association
of Europe, runs nation and
club competitions including
the UEFA European Championship, UEFA championship
League, UEFA Europa League,
and Europe’s outstanding
player for much of the past
decade, has only shown up in
moments. So far that has
been enough. There is no
doubting, however, that a
meeting with France presents
a huge leap in quality, and
given the countries’ history, a
massive psychological hurdle
as well. Yet for all the pieces
that point toward a France
win, there is also much from
which Portugal can draw encouragement.
Portugal has made it
tween World Cup tournaments, it was originally called
the UEFA European Nations
Cup, changing to the current
name in 1968. Starting with
the 1996 tournament, specific Championships are often
referred to in the form “UEFA
Euro (Year)”; this format has
since been retroactively applied to earlier tournament.
The tournament which is in
its 15th edition, has been
won by the different national
teams: Germany, and Spain
each have won three titles,
been highlighted by new
chapters in long, storied and
previously one-sided rivalries.
And the final, while it may
not have quite the glitzy appeal of Germany against Italy
or Germany against France,
will be no different. France
and Portugal have clashed in
three semi-finals in major
tournaments dating back to
1984, on each occasion with
France coming out on top by
an agonizingly narrow margin
from the point of view of the
Portuguese.

to the final playing in a style
very much like the cautious,
defensively focused and expertly organized Greeks. It is
no coincidence that the man
in charge of the tactics, Fernando Santos, coached
Greece for four years, taking
over from the mastermind of
its Euro 2004 glory, Otto Rehhagel, before assuming control of Portugal in 2014.
For Portugal, it is easy
to
foresee
what
a
scriptwriter’s final act would
be. Ronaldo, Portugal’s greatest ever player, sits tied with
Platini for the record of most
goals in European Championship history, with nine. One
more and he would eclipse
the player who broke Portuguese hearts 32 years ago
and just perhaps give Portugal its first major trophy.
Also, the Euros 2016,
which was played in time of a
world loved player, “Cristiano
Ronaldo”, who has struggled
for his nation’s team (Portugal) victory over France in
tournament (Euro 2016), despite the fact that Portugal
finished third in their group.
They won 1 of their seven
matches in the Euro 2016,
with a barely convincing 2-0
win over Wales in the Semifinal.
They barely dominated a single game, and the
final was no different, but
they were hard to play
against throughout and became very difficult to break
down in the knockout stage,
of which played with Iceland
1-1 at group, Austria 0-0 at

with Croatia at rounds 16, 11 (5-3 won penalty) at Quarter final, won 2-0 against

France at the extra-time of
the game.

leak out and attack, there
was very little space for Portugal opponent to work besides well outside the box.
However, Portugal
was had been willing to concede possession in midfielder at times, but its shape
prevents attacking penetration.
Portugal will have to
seek to break down a set defense.
So, this was likely to be the
matchup. Portugal defending
deep narrow and in numbers,
with France looking for the
pass or run that can pick the
lock. The host was rightly favored, but Portugal has been
effective in the tournament
at slowing down strong at-
It has been called a “diamond” because the runners,
usually Joao Mario and Renato Sanches, line up in the
half-spaces rather than on
the wings, but there was not
really a play maker behind
the two strickers. Instead of,
Adrien Silva has worked as a
destroyer in that role, breaking up opposition possession
rather than looking to create
for Ronaldo and Nani.
This tactic has enabled Portugal to control the
matches and limits quality
chances. Even though Portugal’s opponents have attempted 40 shots in the
match, not a single one has
been a clear scoring chance.
With so many defensively capable mid-fielders in a narrow formation, and with few
of them given freedom to
allow France possession, slow
the game down, and look to
prevent chances by defending in numbers. Unless France
can strike quickly and force
Portugal out of its preferred
strategy, the game is likely to
be relatively slow and tactical. But, however, exciting it
might be, this plan makes
sense for Santo’s side. As
good as France is, its attack
has yet to be really tested by
a top defense in the knockout
stages France had little trouble with Ireland or Iceland,
but those were two of the
weakest side in the knockout
round; neither got through
the group stage with a positive expected-goals difference. Germany had chosen a
strategy of all-out attack,
which enabled France to hit
on the counter rather than
tacking sides. To win the trophy, France will have to prove
itself against a quality side
built to frustrate its best opposition, but Portugal developed a technical of beating
the Euros Champion and of
making a great history in the
UEFA.
In conclusion, unfortunately, the Real Madrid
Striker and most watched

by the end of the game the
agony of the knee injury was
exchanged for ecstasy as Portugal won 1-0 in extra time by

team.

Why Domestic Helps Should Be Avoided

T
he rising spate of career opportunities taken up by homes in today’s society has undoubtedly necessitated
the need to engage the services of housekeepers in various homes.
First, what does Domestic Help
mean? It refers to those that are generally
referred to as houseboys, housegirls, drivers, nannies, maiguards, gardeners, and
laundry men. The ‘househelp’, ‘housekeepers’ or ‘domestic servants’ have become synonymous with most elite families
in Nigeria. These elites or ‘big men’ so to
say take young girls/ladies and guys in to
their homes as assistants, and are usually
treated inhumanely.
The cause of these violation of
human rights, according to some people is
caused by lack of quality education, which
is sometimes due to financial incapacitation. Another cause is the unavailability of
jobs for even graduates. So when graduates don’t have jobs, they are therefore
available for the elites and working class,
who are too busy to do take care of their
homes.
The employment of nannies,
housegirls and boys, cooks etc have therefore generated a lot of evil happenstances
in the homes where they have been employed. Examples are sexual abuses on
children, cheating by husbands or wives of
the home, spiritual cases like being possessed with evil spirit and the likes. Most
of these domestic helps have negative influence, especially on the children and
they eventually scatter marriages and
homes altogether.
There is a case of a couple whose
marriage is split today because of the involvement of a domestic help in form of a
driver.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams got married
three years before their break up, and before then their marriage was sweet and
fun according to Mrs. Williams, who spoke
to the Boss. The husband employed a

driver when he got too busy and the same
driver drove him and his wife separately.
This driver, according to Mrs. Williams was
“hot and sexy. He had a sexy body with
strong biceps and the rest. He was tempting…I mean…I couldn’t resist him”.
Well, she went on and on. She was really
attracted to the young charming driver,
whose name was given as Akeem and they
started making out. This went on for about
two months before her husband discovered.
“That fateful day was the second
day of my work leave and I was so desperate to have Akeem all for myself that day.
Then my husband came in earlier than
usual and met me and Akeem on our matrimonial bed. He was mad! I have never
ever seen my husband in such a rage. He
left the house and came back with a couple of police men and arrested Akeem. He
was so mad that he asked for divorce immediately. It was sad.” Till today Mr. and
Mrs. Williams are yet to resolve this issue.
It’s been Five months now.
There is another case of a couple
who have asked for anonymity, who took
in a maid and discovered later that the
young girl was possessed. According to
her, she kept sucking the blood of the father of the house because she seduced
him and he did not give in. She was sucking the blood of this man till he became
terribly sick and almost died.
Luckily for the wife who ran to her
pastor immediately she sensed it was a
spiritual issue, the matter was brought to
a spiritual end, with the girl getting her deliverance. The woman had said “in my life
or even in my next life, I would never get a
house help again”.
From the views of many that
shared their experiences with me, it is not
safe to employ domestic slaves as it endangers a home. But some still feel it eases
them of stress.
