Our District 11 Patriot Pen and Voice of Democracy Awards' Ceremony held at our Post was a huge success. We had over 26 students and their families come to pizza night. Representatives from the different Posts in our district were also on hand to give out checks and congratulate the young people. As usual Hobe Sound had the winners! Karly Landvay took first place in our Post and at the District level in Patriot Pen. Janette Parsons won first place at our Post and at the District level in Voice of Democracy. Both girls will have a chance now to go to the Department of Florida contest were thousands of dollars and scholarships are at stake. We will keep our fingers crossed for them. Big thank you to Ida, Irene, Christine, and Patty for all their help at the ceremony and to the pizza crew of Commander Polzin for their excellent pizzas. In order to bring back the horse races we need VOLUNTEERS, our post does not function by itself In the past the horse races has been a successful event for the Cooties but due to lack of volunteers it had to be dropped, please help us bring the races back so we can continue to help our hospitalized veterans. Our January 3rd meeting we will be discussing bringing the VA hospital veterans to our post for horse races and pizza, it is an event they look forward to, VOLUNTEER and make this day special for our veterans. Cooties members don't forget our meetings are the first Monday of every month at 6:31. Help us help our Veterans. In other news we have a holiday dinner and dance this Saturday, December 18. In January we have gotten hold of a "live band" for our dinner and dance and hope to have a huge crowd to hear these gentlemen who play at different commander's balls around the state. Be looking for flyers and get your tickets early. Don't forget the raffle packages still going on. Ask a member or the bartender for tickets. Keep them smiling in beds of white.
