Dear Folks,
The summer has certainly flown by and I am coming
into the home stretch of my sabbatical. I will be back in the office at
HCCUCC on August 30. My first Sunday back will be September 4,
when we will celebrate Holy Communion. Again, I want to thank you
all for this wonderful opportunity for rest and enrichment. The
centerpiece of my sabbatical was my three weeks in Scotland. I plan
on presenting a travel log on my trip on Sunday, October 16 at 6:30
p.m. Refreshments will be served. Please mark it on your calendar and
plan to attend.
A very special thank you goes out to all the folks who kept the church
rolling along this summer: David, Des, Ace, and James for preaching,
the Deacons for worship leadership, and most especially our Office
Manager, Karen, for keeping things on track. I feel so blessed to have
such able folks around here!
One of the very special things that I observed in all my travels is the
faith of people all down through the ages, from the prehistoric to the
modern day. Humanity has always been seeking the divine. We all
come from a long line of people down through the ages who looked
beyond self to something greater, something that gives us meaning and
purpose. We who are Christians, call that something God, known to
us in Jesus Christ. As we gear up for our new unofficial church year,
it is my hope and prayer that we here at HCCUCC will recommit
ourselves to worship, service, and mission as we honor that
"something"...God. Let us keep the beacon of love and light shining
forth from 19 Church Street!
See you all very soon!
In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille

PUMPKIN & HOLLY FAIR
Friday, November 18, 2016
5:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
Saturday, November 19, 2016
9:30 A.M. – 2:30 P.M.
Once again we will be opening our doors at 5:30 pm on Friday so that
our visitors will be able to come right from work and have their dinner
with us. We will be offering wonderful soups, and a slice of one of
our delicious pies makes a perfect dessert.
There are many opportunities for everyone to make the Pumpkin &
Holly Fair a success. We are looking for a Chairperson for the
Christmas Fantasy. Also, help is needed in several areas: Jams and
jellies, candy makers, crafters and soup makers. Let us know where
you are interested in helping.
Future Belfry articles will talk about other areas of the fair where
volunteers are needed. It takes many workers to make our fair a
success. Please plan to join us and share in the fellowship.
“Dear HCC Council,
Thank you very much for my College Scholarship. This money will
help me pay for my books at WestConn.
Thanks again,
Matthew Zelanin”
“Dear HCC,
Thank you so much for the college scholarship money. We used it
for the purchase of our textbooks, and we greatly appreciate it!

The Connecticut Hospice, Inc. (inpatient and homecare) is

As a volunteer, you can fill your hours (weekdays/evening or
weekends) by assisting in a clerical capacity or offering direct
patient/family contact as a friendly visitor, provide pastoral care
