FACILITIES The De La Salle Health Sciences Institute occupies an eight-hectare lot in Dasmariñas City, Cavite approximately 32km south of Manila. The Campus is easily accessible by public transportation through 3 main routes: the Coastal Road - Aguinaldo Highway route from the north, the Carmona Highway from the east and the Governor’s Drive from the West. The Campus’ location in the City of Dasmariñas is greatly conducive to learning, being both accessible to the conveniences of a city and at the same time surrounded by the lush and serene environment of the countryside. Within a kilometer radius are situated the DLSU-Dasmariñas, other colleges, shopping centers, restaurants, and the student villages and homes. The Campus itself is composed of the De La Salle University Medical Center’s (DLSUMC) 4-building complex, the four-storey College of Medicine building, the sevenstorey Academic Center for Health Allied Sciences, the four-storey Dr. Romeo P. Ariniego, MD Library, the four-storey De La Salle University Angelo King Medical Research Center, and the De La Salle Animo Center. 1|P age FACILITIES UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER Bldg 1 - UMC Main Bldg 2 - Wu Annex Bldg 3 - T F Rivera Hall Bldg 4 - J S Tantiansu Cancer Institute The DLSUMC, the principal teaching hospital of the four colleges of DLSHSI, is administered by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres. It is composed of two (2) four-storey buildings, Buildings 1 and 2 and the ten-storey hospital annex, the Dr. Teoderica Favis vda. de Rivera Hall (Building 3) and the one-storey Jose Sotto Tantiansu Cancer Institute. Aside from the hospital rooms, doctor‘s clinics, and the Out-Patient Department, the DLSUMC also houses Emergency Rooms and Operating Rooms in the Hospital Annex. The base training hospital is a 250-bed capacity tertiary hospital, the largest in Region IV and the Philippines’ First ISO 9001 Certified, with fully accredited training programs in various clinical specialties. It is where students are exposed to various areas of the hospital through clinical duties under the guidance of faculty members. 2|P age FACILITIES COLLEGE OF MEDICINE Bldg 5 - College of Medicine Gross Anatomy Laboratory The lecture rooms and laboratories of the College of Medicine can be found in the College of Medicine Building. The Gross Anatomy Laboratory is housed in a separate onestorey building. ANGELO KING MEDICAL RESEARCH CENTER Bldg 6 - AKMRC Villarosa Convention Hall The De La Salle University Angelo King Medical Research Center is the Institute‘s ground zero for medical and health allied research. It houses the research laboratories of the different basic and clinical departments, the separate Adult and Pediatric TB DOTS facilities under the TB Research Unit, the Center for Indigenous Medicine, the Bioavailability Unit. Here, faculty researchers conduct studies not only for the advancement of knowledge in their fields of specialization, but also conducts researches that are relevant to the health concerns of the region. Aside from coordinating and managing the research agenda of the Institute, the Research Center has recently been named convenor of the Regional Health Research and Development Committee for Region 4. It also provides research services to pharmaceutical companies and government health agencies. The Information and Communication Technology Center and the De La Salle Villarosa Convention Hall are also found at the Research Center. 3|P age FACILITIES TWO HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CHAPEL In the midst of the campus, surrounded by the lush vegetation of the campus‘ mini forest, one will find the soul of life in the Institute, the 500-capacity Two Hearts of Jesus and Mary Chapel. Here, students commune with God, friends, mentors, and other members of the community through a daily celebration of the Eucharist and individual prayers. Bldg 7 - CHAPEL ACADEMIC CENTER FOR HEALTH ALLIED SCIENCES The Academic Center for Health Allied Sciences a.k.a. Wang Building houses the classrooms and some of the laboratories of the Health Allied Colleges (CNM, CMRT, and CRS) as well as the administrative offices of the colleges. Bldg 8 - ACHS - WANG DORMBUILT Another vital edifice in the campus is the Dormbuilt which serves as the students’ home in campus. Bldg 9 - DORMITORY 4|P age FACILITIES ANIMO CENTER Bldg 10 - ANIMO CENTER Students and employees of DLSHSI can now boast of its very own Center that will serve as a convergence point for the whole community. Indeed, the De La Salle Animo Center will serve as a place for animated opportunities for growth and development in all aspects of life – spiritual, academic, social, civic, cultural, musical, sports, and total environment. ROMEO P. ARINIEGO MD LIBRARY Located conveniently next to the Academic Center for the Health Sciences (Wang Bldg), the new library building looks set to become another focal point for the entire DLSHSI population. Aptly called the Romeo P. Ariniego MD Library, the building sits on one of the high points in the institute, flanked by greenery on its side and trees both at the front and rear. The building itself brings in natural sunlight and adds a touch of nature and breath of fresh air to the entire surroundings.
