NEWS ON WE CARE VILLAGE When the three sisters above (Rev. Naomi Sam-Kpakra, Rev. Grace Mazhandu and Rev. Dr. Margaret Sheffield) prayed about WE C.A.R.E launching in Zimbabwe, it never occurred to them that they would be celebrating a successful touch down of WE C.A.R.E Village in Zimbabwe before the end of the year. With its partner MeDRA on the right, WE C.A.R.E has been able to reach out to 240 orphans and 610 other vulnerable children in the Norton community of Zimbabwe. To the right is part of the MeDRA-WE C.A.R.E family (Ottilia, Junior Vitoi, Clever Tabaziba, Thoko Dube and Grace Mazhandu. Medra has worked diligently to open opening doors through which We C.A.R.E could enter the community with Good News. In the Center is Leigh-Ann Webb, a 17 year old from Faith UMC (Rev David Arruda’s Church in Massachusetts) visiting with us for 6 weeks at the time of launching the ministry WE C.A.R.E VILLAGE in Zimbabwe. Our greatest moments with Leigh-Ann were at Streets Ahead, a ministry that provides homeless children with baths, hygiene items, clothes, meals, d education opportunities and counseling to help them see that life can be different. We then took her to Chinhoi Caves for a treat. Gary and Renee` Vandyke are visiting with WE CARE family at Sherwood Primary School where 240 children now get supplementary food at School. We appreciate the support of Corinna Food Bank and N.E.R.T (National Emergency Response Team) of USA for their support with food. School attendance has increased from 205 to 240 as a result. More support needed Clothes donated by churches, communities and individuals in United States bring much joy to orphans and other vulnerable children in Norton. WE C.A.R.E and MeDRA have established a VILLAGE of C.A.R.E (Christ in Action Reaching Everyone) that is reaching out to four Schools in Norton: Sherwood Primary School, Sherwood Secondary School, Blandford and Sandringham Primary School. Nothando Mahachi gives out boxes of beans and rice for Child Supplementary Feeding at Sherwood Primary School. Children sit here every day in anticipation of a mid-day meal. Their faces are bright as you can see. It is because they have just had lunch. Bishop Madhiba of Harare West MCZ (Methodist Church in Zimbabwe) assists with clothes distribution to orphans in Sandringham and prays for the children. Orphans are learning that they belong to God’s loving family around them. We are now at Sherwood Secondary School where we are serving 210 children learning under very difficult conditions. The School is a one barn open space with a few chairs in each corner for learning spaces for forms 1 through 4. There are five teachers here and only 3 are paid staff. The two ladies in the left picture below have no salary, yet they work so hard at what they do. Three quarters of the student body have not been able to pay school fees because they just have not got the means. We would like to assist with resources for partitioning the barn into single classrooms, laboratories and offices. This is a beautiful site with potentials to grow into an educational institution servicing the whole area. The Secondary School is just 0.2 miles from Sherwood Primary, and its feeds off of it. Any development taking place here just spills over, and besides, there is such a good relationship between the two. Both have 20 hectors of land that they are offering for the development of an Orphanage. The Headmaster of Secondary School has moved out of his own house to make room for the VILLAGE Health Care Facility. Discussions are in progress with volunteer Doctors from Parirenyatwa Hospital to volunteer services in this community. Hopefully, you too, has gifts to share with our WE C.A.R.E VILLAGE. It is a great day at Sherwood Secondary as you can see, with MeDRA and WE C.A.R.E bringing clothes to meet the needs of its family at this School. The children and their teachers can smile today because each one will have a new change of clothes. God’s blessings are uplifting to those who receive them. If you have gifts as well as resources to help us, there is a place for you in our Village. We need Volunteers builders, plumbers and carpenters to help us build our School into a State of the Art School. We also need help procuring resources that are not locally available for the project: Cement, doors and door frames, and windows and window frames. WE can also use some paint for our Health Facility as well as some good doors and windows. We will be providing more details on our needs in the Next Update. Thank you for visiting with WE C.A.R.E VILLAGE today. Send comments to Rev. Grace Mazhandu: E-mail [email protected] Tel011-263-776-270104
