It is their way of supporting this worthy cause and creating awareness to the community about the organization. The mission of First Step is to reduce the incidence of domestic and sexual violence and to provide services to individuals affected by these crimes. Prevention of UPCOMING EVENTS: domestic and sexual violence through education, advocacy and appropriate intervention is the ultimate goal of First Step. Downtown Plymouth Weekly Update PLYMOUTH DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY Chamber Gala Auction Just One Month Away The Chamber's 25th Annual Dinner and Gala Auction will take place on November 7 from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. at Laurel Manor. We anticipate a crowd of over 400 people and already have over 350 auction items committed. This year the theme is Tickets for the night are $75 which include dinner, open bar, dancing and great live, silent and raffle auctions. There are still sponsorships available to give your company a higher profile at the event and they include tickets to attend. Pay before October 17 and receive $10 of complimentary raffle auction tickets. We are also still seeking auction donations for the event. The Auction is supported by hundreds of companies throughout the area by providing items, gift certificates, services or cash donations to purchase raffle items. The items are either bundled into attractive packages with other donations or auctioned individually. To make donations or buy tickets, contact the Chamber at (734) 453-1540. WALK OF TREES If you are looking for something fun for your employees for the upcoming holidays or to promote your business, Christmas trees are now on sale for the popular Walk of Trees in Kellogg Park. The trees are $75 and include 200 clear lights. Email [email protected] if you would like to purchase one. HALLOWEEN PARTY AT THE PLYMOUTH DISTRICT LIBRARY Head to the Library on Saturday, Oct. 25th from noon – 2 p.m. for a Halloween party! There will be crafts, activities, and food. Make sure to wear your costume! Registration required, starting Oct. 18. The program is intended for children ages 5-12 and their families. Join us for the Wicked Halloween Run Sunday, Oct. 26. Participants can enter a 5k, 10k, or Monster Mile. Make sure you come in costume as the best costumes will win Downtown Plymouth gift certificates. Also, check out a live dancing performance on the stage in Kellogg Park. Downtown Plymouth was recently featured on two television shows on Detroit Public TV. Under the Radar Michigan’s episode aired last week, and Discover the ‘D’ recently aired their episode featuring the 2014 Great Lakes Regional Chili Cook Off. It is a Metro Detroit charity that helps women and families transition into livable homes from homeless and women shelters. Their mission: "to provide families in need with dignified, clean and welcoming home interiors." We set to work and held our first furniture drive. Despite the frigid conditions, (our packing tape froze!), we managed to fill two trucks! Check them out: www.humbledesign.org Your gently used furniture and household accessories can give someone else a fresh start. If you are able to help, join us for our second furniture drive! NOVEMBER 1st 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. DOWNTOWN PLYMOUTH We will be camped out on Penniman Avenue (behind Rima Designs next to the Penn Grill). Drive-through drop off available for your convenience!
