REFUGEE FAMILY SPONSORSHIP
Articles Needed to Furnish an Apartment
We don’t know precisely when our family will arrive but a reading of news
articles regarding the Government’s plans suggests it may well be by year end.
We anticipate that we will receive short notice of the family’s arrival.
We want to have on hand the furnishings needed to install our family
(parents and children ages 5 and 2) in a two bedroom apartment. We will not
rent the apartment until the family arrives in Canada.
The list below sets out generally the furnishings and equipment required.
We believe that parishioners may well have “spares” of many of these items that
they will donate to the family. We would like to gather these and find out what
we lack before anyone purchases and donates items.
We ask that you bring smaller items to the Church and leave them in the
vestibule. Please mark/label boxes or bags to assist us sorting things. There will
be a sign in the vestibule indicating where to leave donations.
For larger items or bundles please indicate by email to
[email protected] what items you have and give a phone number
where we can contact you and an address where we can pick up. If you are not
on email please phone the Church Office at 613-232-4891 with this information.
It is possible that we may receive a surplus of one of more of the items on
our list. If this occurs we will donate the surplus item to another parish sponsoring a refugee family.
Thank you for your generosity.
‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to
drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe
you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers
and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
- Matthew 22: 37-40
