WMS Express—Issue 2 Page 2 Video Game Review: Arkham Knight with the return of an old friend. In the game you can do combo attacks and sneak around as the big black bat. The game also focuses heavily on fighting in the Batmobile. With it you can fight enemy tanks, pull down walls, and chase cars through Gotham. I liked the final level where you fight Scarecrow. I also liked the fight with the Arkham Knight. I enjoyed the way the bat suits look and how the Batmobile looked as well. And you can finally explore Gotham! But I didn’t like how you just fight endless hordes of villains throughout the game; it gets old very fast. I thought the graphics on the Xbox One and the PS4 were great but not so much on the PC. The PC version graphics were terrible. The game company actually gave refunds to everyone who bought the PC version, and they removed the download from STEAM. Lastly, I thought the gameplay was ok. The story had some amazing plot twists, but the actual gameplay gets old after a while. Overall, I thought it was worth my $60. by Asher Wallace Batman: Arkham Knight is the third part of the Arkham series. It came out on June 23, 2015 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the PC. It costs $60.00. The game is about Scarecrow trying to fill Gotham with his toxic fear gas, causing mass chaos and destruction. Throughout the game you fight Scarecrow’s henchmen and the mysterious Arkham Knight, We’re Watching: The Thundermans Thundemans because it is funny. I also like watching them save people because they make jokes, too. I also like the way they get along in the house. The Thundermans is on Nickelodeon on Wednesdays at 7:30pm. by Kristina Jacobs I like The Thundermans. The show is about a superhero family trying to have a normal life and hiding their abilities. The names of the characters are Hank (dad), Barb (mom), the twins Phoebe and Max, plus Nora and Billy. Hank has the ability to fly and he has super strength. Barb can make electricity. Phoebe and Max have hot and cold breath and mind control powers. Nora has laser eyes and Billy has super speed. The Thundermans is a great show. The Thundermans is a great show for ages 5-14. It’s also great for kids who like superheroes. The Thundermans is a series. WMS Express—Issue 2 Page 4 Teacher Feature: Mrs. Lach and Mathlab This is Mrs. Jennifer Lach’s first year teaching at Westfall Middle School. Mrs. Lach has a lot of experience teaching 6-8 grade math due to 6 years of teaching at Renaissance Middle School in Fairburn, GA. Mrs. Lach decided to come to Westfall because it is close to her home. She says, “It cut my travel time in half and allows me to spend more time helping out at the school as well as spending more time with my family.” Mrs. Lach says the reason we have Mathlab is to extend our time to practice Mrs. Jennifer Lach, and learn what we already Mathlab teacher have in regular math class. In her class she uses a system of “Checks and Balances.” This basically lets students buy work materials and snacks for points. If you show good behavior you get points, but if you show bad behavior you get points taken away. Mrs. Lach tries to make Mathlab fun and exciting by doing group work, songs, bingo and getting up and moving around for activities. She says “I would like my students to achieve a love for mathematics. If I can get them to like and enjoy math, mastery will eventually follow.” Mrs. Lach’s family consists of her husband, her son who is five, and a daughter who is three years old. Mrs. Lach went to college at the University of Toledo located in Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. Lach decided to come back to Ohio because she says, “I am originally from here. I was born and raised in the Toledo area and all of my family is still there. Moving back has allowed my children to see their relatives more often since the drive is significantly less than what it was before.” Although Mrs. Lach is very open she still has a few secrets. She said, “When I was younger, I used to collect tweety bird stuff. I had a flag, soap dispenser, stuffed animals, key chains. If it had tweety on it… I had it!” Mrs. Lach enjoys teaching because she likes helping children learn new things that could affect their future in a good way. She says, “It’s a wonderful feeling when you can finally see the light bulb come on and know they understand what they are doing.” Teacher Feature: Mrs. Cline and Pathways Mrs. Beth Cline is our new Pathways teacher at Westfall Middle School. She is married with two sons who attend Ohio University in Athens. She said, “We also have a black lab who is the family pet and very spoiled.” Mrs. Cline went to Ohio State University. What Mrs. Cline likes about Westfall Middle School is the students and staff. She likes how they all are friendly and supportive to her. Mrs. Cline worked at Laurelville Elementary (Logan Elm School District) teaching academic intervention for third and fourth graders before coming here. The reason Mrs. Cline came to Westfall was to help start Pathways class. She says she believes “Pathways is very important because it teaches students about career awareness.” What Mrs. Cline likes about pathways is “teaching students about various pathways. This is a career planning class to advise students on career and college decisions and planning. It also includes personal portfolio set-up, interests, assessments, and career by Jayden Hammond by Brandon Fleak guest speakers. In addition, we will discuss interviewing and resume skills, financial budgeting, and education options. This class will hopefully inspire and prepare students for the workPathways teacher, Mrs. Beth Cline, looks over force.” Wyatt Cooper’s project During Mrs. Cline’s free time she likes to instruct painting classes in the evenings so she can express new creativity and meet new people.
