Le Cirque de L`école. Tonight
Dear Parents and Friends of Ascension Episcopal School, Welcome to our 26th annual PTO Auction: Le Cirque de L’école. Tonight you will be witness to highflying deeds of death defying bidding. You will be amazed by feats of daring so impressive that some will be forced to ask, “Can I afford to let that spa treatment go without one more bid?” But more than witnessing and being amazed, you will participate in an evening so historic, so epic, that it will go down in the annals of Ascension lore as an “auction for the ages.” Without the time and talent of all our remarkable volunteers, our Big Top would collapse. To the auction committee, we say, BRAVO! To our most excellent auction ring masters, Mia Robinson and Katherine Anselmo, we say thank you for your tireless dedication to making this year’s auction “the greatest show on earth!” To our patrons, supporters, and benefactors who have dedicated themselves year in and year out to the cause of supporting Ascension Episcopal School, we offer a rousing ovation! Your magnanimity has provided our school with the ability to fund professional development opportunities for our faculty and staff; your devotion and benevolence have brought us iPads; and, last year, your unparalleled generosity was responsible for the creation of our new community pavilion at the Sugar Mill Pond campus. For the generosity of the guests at Le Cirque de L’école is without compare. Auction items may come and go; yet, the unrelenting devotion of so many supporters, both past and present, ensures that we at Ascension Episcopal School can continue to provide “Educational excellence in a Christian environment.” PT Barnum once aptly said, “There is no picture so beautiful as a smiling, bright-eyed, happy child; no music so sweet as their clear and ringing laughter.” Our auction tonight is dedicated to that beautiful picture and that sweet music. Now without further ado, que Le Cirque de L’école commence! Paul M. We are delighted to have you all here to help celebrate and support our 26th Annual PTO Auction. As Auction Chair and Step-Up we’ve witnessed the importance of the auction and how it impacts the lives and education of our children. We celebrate the volunteers, faculty and staff who have worked side-by-side with us over the past year, and we are blessed to have made so many friends in the process. Most of all, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of time, talent and gifts that the Ascension community shares to make the Auction a success. Thank you for being a part of this magical evening. Makerspaces provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering and tinkering. As we continue to evolve our curriculum to take advantage of innovative and integrated teaching styles, our classrooms, and the furniture in them, need to evolve as well. Creating Adaptable Classrooms, Removing Boundaries to Engagement One of the boundaries to a collaborative teaching environment is the classroom furniture itself. If the teacher is able to easily reconfigure a classroom, it opens up the possibilities of reaching each and every student in a more significant and impactful way. 91 92
