This year's annual Blues Festival has one of the best line ups yet! On Sunday evening we have Tommy Castro

Business

Forum
The DVBID has been working with the Chamber of Commerce and the City on more educational opportunites
for our membership. Recently a number of businesses in Downtown and around the City were visited by State and
Federal agencies on compliance issues. In light of this the Chamber has an educational forum every month and
they are dedicating the next one to "Division Of Labor Standards Employment Law". It will be taking place on
Friday July 8th at 9 am to 10 am at the Travis Credit Union Community Room (The TCU main office on Allison
Drive). This is a wonderful opportunity to catch up on what's going on with regulations and what employers need to
be aware of with their businesses. Thank You Chamber for hosting this event. ..and TCU too!

The DVBID is in the process of setting up a Strategic Plan for the upcoming years down the trail. We've come a
long way since 1999 as an organization but with the East Main District going to be developed in the near future, it's
time to look at what we as an organization can do to grow and better ourselves. There is a committee working on a
number of ideas and you'll hear more about what's going on as things get glued together later this year. The
DVBID Board of Directors is still meeting every month to keep our events rolling along and looking for ways to keep
bringing locals and visitors to our Downtown. We manage to bring over 100,000 people to the Heart Of The City
with what we've been doing and look forward to offering more opportuities to our businesses and customers too .

It's back once again! Our annual Rib & Chili Challenge will be
taking place on Saturday August 6th in and around Town Square.
This is our "back yard" challenge, so to speak, to give folks
bragging rights on their cooking adventures. Grills will be lit early
and the fun will continue throughout the day. Judging will take
place around 1 pm for the chili and 2 pm for the ribs. There will
be "official" judging for the ribs and chili and a "People's Choice"
judging for the chili only (too expensive to have the contestants
provide ribs for everyone). Music will be going on too with Taryn

The DVBID will be hosting music in Town Square once again in August on Friday
evenings! On August 5th it will be ''The Black Rock Project" playing from 6 pm to 9 pm. The
following week it will be our annual "Art, Wine & Brew Festival" kicking off Friday evening
(band TBA) and on the 19th it's "Strange Brew" taking the stage. This is a great opportunity
to keep bringing people to our Downtown. Our restaurants and shops that are open should
host specials or their own events during these musical evenings. If you are please let the
DVBID office know so we can promote it too.
This year's AW&B Festival was moved up a week which allows us the opportunity to draw
a bigger crowd to Downtown. Friday night has the kick-off concert and Saturday we'll have
15 or so artisans in and around Town Square plus music all day. The Matty T Band will be
clo~ing things out Saturday evening at 7 pm. we'll have more information posted on our
website and Facebook page as the event gets closer.
MovieNightsAugustB'thWith"Frozen"

Farmers'
Market
Eve~Saturda
Our Farmers' Market is in full swing for our annual season. The market takes place every
Saturday along the 300 block of Main Street from 8 am to 12 pm. There are still some spots
open for our DVBID merchants to showcase their business. The Pacific Coast Farmers'
Market Association, who hosts/manages the market for us,
provides 2 spaces each week (10x10 area, you still need to
bring your own pop up and materials) for our merchants to use
at NO CHARGE! You need to coordinate with Judy in our
office 451-2100 as to when you would like to come and if we
have space available that specific day. It's a 1st come 1st
plugged in activity so call today! It's your chance to promote
what you do and let people know all about you and your business. One recent merchant had
hands out, samples and an invitation to their upcoming open house. It's a great way to get
the word out to the public and it's FREE because you are part of the DVBID!
Downtown
Vacaville
Official
Facebook
Page
Yes, that's our Facebook page name "Downtown Vacaville Official Facebook Pagel!. The
reason it's so long is that because when we started it there were others using the name and
we had to differentiate who we were so Facebook could work with us and keep things
straight. We post on it every day as to what we are doing and we try and promote our local
businesses too ...especially if there are any events happening with your business. If you do
have any specials, open houses, deals, etc. coming up please notify us at the DVBID office
so we can help you promote on our FB page too!
This is our 10th year of hosting music in Town Square during the lunch time hours. We've
had a great turn out of local, regional and national talent over the years. This year's fun will
wrap up on Wednesday July 27th with Stefan Barboza's students performing from 11 am to
1 pm. Stefan has been helping host this the past 2 seasons.
This is the new DVBID logo that we will be using in
moving forward with our branding and what the City
and Visitors' Bureau will be using as well (their version,
same style with some different wording). We will
The Heart of the City.
continue to grow and promote the Heart Of The City!
