The Advent Season
This weekend we celebrate a new year in the Church
as we begin the Advent Season. Often times after Thanksgiving we tend to forget that we have this beautiful season before
arriving at the great celebration of Christmas! While it might
be easy to forget, this season is full of richness and really provides us the opportunity to get ready for Christmas, it would
benefit us greatly to use this season in preparation for Christmas. Here at St. Francis of Assisi we have many different
opportunities to help us as they say; “get into the season of
Advent”. I encourage everyone to take advantage of these
opportunities to help you prepare for Christmas!
On Tuesday, December 2nd we have our Communal
Penance services here at St. Francis. Our first service will be
at 1:00 pm (English), with our Trilingual Communal Penance
service at 6:30 pm. The celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation is of course one of the best ways in which we can
prepare our inner selves to welcome our Lord and Savior at
Christmas. We will have a large number of priests joining us
for the celebration of the Sacrament, so I invite you to please
come and encounter our Lord in this beautiful sacrament.
Both of these will be held in the church. I would also like to
let you know that because all of our parish priests help out at
penance services throughout the deanery, we will not have
confessions on Tuesday evenings during the month of December. Please check our website and here in the bulletin for the
schedule of all the penance services in our deanery.
This coming Friday is the first Friday of the month,
so why not come and spend a few moments with Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament. On December 8th, we celebrate the Patronal Feast of the United States, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. The Solemnity falls on a Monday, hence
please check the bulletin for the Mass schedule. On December 9th, we celebrate the Feast of St. Juan Diego, hence we
will be having a Mass at 7 pm to celebrate the feast of St.
Juan Diego. Also, later that week we have celebrations for
Our Lady of Guadalupe, please check the bulletin and website
for the times.
I invite you to take some time and enter into this
beautiful season of Advent, thus preparing ourselves to celebrate with joy the birth of Savior, Jesus Christ.

invited to come in at any part of the day or evening on
Friday and spend some time praying before our Lord,
especially praying that all life be respected.

La temporada de Adviento
Este fin de semana se celebra un nuevo año en la Iglesia al comenzar el tiempo de Adviento. Muchas veces después
del día de Acción de Gracias nos olvidamos que tenemos por
delante una hermosa temporada que nos ayuda a prepararnos
para la gran fiesta de la Navidad!
Si bien puede ser fácil olvidarlo, esta temporada está llena de
riqueza y realmente nos ofrece la oportunidad para prepararnos, nos beneficia de sobremanera usar esta temporada para
verdaderamente preparar nuestro corazón. Aquí, en San Francisco de Asís, tendremos muchas oportunidades diferentes para ayudarnos cómo va el dicho a "Entrar en el tiempo de Adviento". Los invito a todos a aprovechar estas oportunidades
para ayudarle a prepararse para la Navidad!
El martes 2 de diciembre tendremos nuestros Servicios Penitenciales aquí en San Francisco de Asís. Nuestro primer servicio será a la 1:00 pm (Inglés), con nuestro servicio
trilingüe Comunal Penitencial a las 6:30 pm. La celebración
del Sacramento de la Reconciliación es, por supuesto, una de
las mejores maneras en que podemos preparar nuestro interior
para dar la bienvenida a nuestro Señor y Salvador en Navidad. Vamos a tener un gran número de sacerdotes que se unirán con nosotros para celebrar este Sacramento, así que, los
invito a que vengan al encuentro con nuestro Señor en este
hermoso sacramento. Ambos se llevarán a cabo en la iglesia.
También me gustaría hacerles saber que debido a que todos
nuestros párrocos ayudan en los servicios penitenciales a lo
largo del decanato, no tendremos confesiones los martes por la
noche durante el mes de diciembre. Por favor visite nuestro
sitio web y revise la información aquí en el boletín sobre el
horario de todos los servicios penitenciales en nuestro decanato.
El próximo viernes es el primer viernes del mes, así
que ¿por qué no vienen a pasar unos momentos con Jesús en
el Santísimo Sacramento? El 8 de diciembre, se celebra la
Fiesta Patronal aquí en los Estados Unidos de la Solemnidad
de la Inmaculada Concepción. La solemnidad cae en lunes, por
lo tanto, es día de guardar, por favor revise el boletín para el
horario de Misas. El 9 de diciembre, se celebra la fiesta de San
Juan Diego, vamos a tener una misa a las 7 pm para celebrar
la fiesta de San Juan Diego. También, más tarde esa semana
tenemos celebraciones de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, por
favor revise el boletín y el sitio web para verificar todas las
actividades en celebración de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
Los invito a aprovechar estas oportunidades para prepararse para esta hermosa temporada de Adviento, de manera
que estemos personalmente preparados para celebrar con alegría el nacimiento del Salvador, Jesucristo.

Adviento, el sábado 6 de diciembre del 2014 que
dirigirá el Padre Cesar Uribe Párroco de la diócesis de
Mexicali, B.C. El día se iniciará con la celebración
Eucarística de las 8am y terminaremos después de dos
pláticas de reflexión, a las 11:30 am. Vengan a iniciar
un nuevo Año Litúrgico y para aprovechar nuestro
crecimiento espiritual en ocasión del 75 aniversario de
