Wood you believe?
According to the Georgia Forestry Commission, 24.8 million acres of
Georgia’s 37 million acres of land area is forestland. Of this 24.8 million acres,
24.4 million acres is timberland available for commercial use – more than any
other state in the U.S. The majority of Georgia’s timberland is owned by private
individuals. Timber is one of Georgia’s top 5 agricultural commodities contributing $28.7 billion and 128,000 jobs into the state’s economy.
Trees provide us with paper products, shelter, cleaner air and water, habitat
for wildlife, and so much more! To learn more about this important Georgia
commodity, match the words to the definition. See if you can find the terms in
the Word Search.
