Message from Our Pastor

My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,
About three years ago we began a review of our procedures for
assisting those who were preparing for the funeral and burial of a
loved one. Our policies and procedures have been updated and a
number of our brothers and sisters in the parish family have
expressed an interest in helping those who are ready to go through
what can be an emotionally difficult process. It is precisely because
this can be a challenging experience even for people of faith that we
encourage preplanning.
Preplanning might be as basic as informing oneself of the general
policies and procedures for arranging a funeral and burial or as
detailed as a complete review of estate planning, liturgy planning,
and prepayment for burial services. Together with the help of
Catholic Cemeteries we have put together a very informative packet
of information and planning tools. The packet can be purchased at
the Holy Boutique. Our website also has helpful information on how
to prepare for a funeral and burial at Our Lady of Lourdes – this
information is available in English, Spanish, and Creole.
This weekend we have with us representatives from Catholic
Cemeteries who will be available after all Masses to help answer
questions about preplanning and provide someone to walk us through
the process. They will also be with us next Saturday morning for a
more detailed presentation and workshop on issue related to
preplanning. The workshop will be in English and we will provide
simultaneous translation into Spanish.
I highly encourage everyone to take some time to think and pray
through the necessary dying to and in this world so as to enter into
the fullness of life in Christ. To be prepared spiritually and
practically is a blessing not just for ourselves but for those who love
and care for us. Finally, if you are interested in volunteering to serve
in this ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes just let me know – we can
always use the help. God bless.

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
Hace unos tres años empezamos una revisión de nuestros procedimientos
para ayudar a los que se preparan para el funeral y el entierro de un ser
querido. Nuestras reglas y procedimientos han sido actualizados y un
número de nuestros hermanos y hermanas en la familia parroquial han
expresado su interés en ayudar a aquellos que están dispuestos a pasar por
lo que puede ser un proceso emocionalmente difícil. Es precisamente
porque esto puede ser una experiencia desafiante, incluso para las personas
de fe, que les animamos a la planificación previa.
La planificación previa podría ser tan básica como informarse uno mismo
de las reglas y procedimientos generales para la organización de un funeral
y entierro o tan detallado como una completa revisión de la planificación
de patrimonio, planificación de la liturgia y de prepago para los servicios
fúnebres. Junto con la ayuda de los Cementerios Católicos hemos
preparado un paquete muy informativo de la información y las
herramientas de planificación. El paquete puede ser adquirido en nuestra
Tienda. Nuestro sitio web también contiene información útil sobre cómo
prepararse para un funeral y el entierro en Nuestra Señora de Lourdes - esta
información se encuentra disponible en inglés, español y creole.
Este fin de semana tenemos con nosotros los representantes de los
Cementerios Católicos que estarán disponibles después de todas las Misas
para ayudar a responder preguntas acerca de la planificación previa y
proporcionar a alguien que nos explique el proceso. También estarán con
nosotros el próximo sábado por la mañana para una presentación más
detallada y taller sobre la cuestión relacionada con la planificación previa.
El taller será en inglés y nos proporcionará traducción simultánea al
español.
Les animo a todos a tomar un poco de tiempo para pensar y orar sobre todo
lo necesario muriendo a este mundo con el fin de entrar en la plenitud de la
vida en Cristo. Para estar preparados espiritualmente y prácticamente es

On March 5th, Ash Wednesday, we will start once again the campaign of the 40 DAYS FOR LIFE. As in previous years,
Our Lady of Lourdes Church, will be responsible for praying all Tuesdays of Lent starting at 7 am through 7 pm. It will
be our responsibility to ensure that every hour is covered with prayer by at least one or more people.
Members of the Respect Life Ministry will be outside of our Church to receive your signed pledges after weekend Masses
on February 22nd and 23rd and March 1st and 2nd. Thank you for your support and prayers!
