This excludes company logo, short disclaimer, and call to action text. Call to action text should be 25 characters max. Less elements, more impact. Ad should be clear, simple, and sophisticated with a visual hierarchy. Text must be between 9pt and 50pt font. Legal disclaimer copy should be 9pt font and 50 characters max. No vertical text or Photoshop effects/filters on type. Image should not visually interfere with the Sign In box. All photos should be professional, clear, and appropriate to the message of the ad. Collage style is not preferred. Normal colors are preferred, no neon/vibrating colors. Use of standard fonts recommended. Small logo, product, or lifestyle illustration and/or photo is recommended. Creative Recommendations Template Information Strongly recommended for creative to include a call to action in the clickable area. A layered template is available in a Photoshop (.PSD) format and is strongly recommended to use when making the creative. If saving out the final JPG from these files, be sure all template layers are hidden (i.e. the Sign In box should not be visible). Recommended all important elements be kept in the 1280x600 resolution, to not be cut off at smaller resolutions. Page 10 Revised January 2014 In order to efficiently host creative advertisements on various Comcast sites, all creative content is restricted to a specific file size, quick reference below (for additional ad units, reference the Available Ad Units pages). These low file sizes allow our advertisements to load very quickly so they do not interfere with the end user’s experience or add load time to the site itself. Dimensions 300x250 160x600 728x90 300x600 Max File Size 40KB 40KB 40KB 60KB For Adobe Photoshop: Open your completed banner in Adobe Photoshop. Go to File > Save for Web... . Use the drop down menu near the top right and select JPEG or GIF. Use the file format that will give you the highest quality at the smallest file size. When the ad is text heavy, choose GIF. When the ad is graphic heavy or has gradients, choose JPEG. If you have a mix of text and graphics or are not sure, default to JPEG. Adjust the Quality slider on the right while watching your image’s file size in the bottom left. Once you are satisfied with the level of quality your image is displaying AND are within the specified KB limit, click the Save button. You have successfully compressed your banner ad! Page 11 Revised January 2014 In order to efficiently host creative advertisements on various Comcast sites, all creative content is restricted to a specific file size, quick reference below (for additional ad units, reference the Available Ad Units pages). These low file sizes allow our advertisements to load very quickly so they do not interfere with the end user’s experience or add load time to the site itself. Dimensions 300x250 160x600 728x90 300x600 Max File Size 40KB 40KB 40KB 60KB Open your completed Flash banner FLA file, then go to File > Publish Settings (screenshot to right). Under Publish select Flash (.swf). Under Advanced, the Compress movie box should be checked. Next, adjust the JPEG Quality. The higher the JPEG quality, the larger the file size will be. Continue to adjust the JPEG Quality, publishing SWFs, and checking the file size of the SWFs until the quality is as high as possible while still under the specified file size. Note: using unique fonts can increase file sizes. Changing fonts may help you save space. ~ If you want to adjust the quality of specific pictures in your Flash file, right click on the name of the picture in the Library, then click Properties (screenshot below). Set the Compression to Photo (JPEG) and Quality to Custom. Adjust the quality as needed. You have successfully compressed your banner ad! Page 12 Revised January 2014 After completing the creative portion of your Flash banner ad, create a new layer above the rest called clickTAG. Select the first frame on the clickTAG layer. Draw a rectangle over the entire banner – this can have any color fill, but no stroke or outline. Right click on the new rectangle and click Convert to Symbol… Name the new symbol clickTAG_button and set the Type to Button. Click OK. You will now see your button listed in your Library. Double click on the rectangle of the new button, clickTAG_button. This will bring you into that button’s timeline. Notice instead of frame numbers, there are words: Up, Over, Run, and Hit Drag the key frame that is on the Up frame to the Hit frame. This will make the entire area of the rectangle the Hit state, or the clickable area. Since the Up, Over, and Down states are empty, the button will be transparent. Click Scene 1 in the top left corner to return to your main timeline. The button should now be a transparent teal color, which indicates that there is an invisible button there. The teal color will not display when you export your banner ad. For the next step, determine if you are using ActionScript 2.0 or ActionScript 3.0. This setting can be found in the Properties window under Publish. Page 13 Revised January 2014 If you are using ActionScript 2.0: Go to your Actions window, then click the transparent teal button clickTAG_button once. Notice the current selection is clickTAG_button and the bottom of the Actions window also shows clickTAG_button. Copy and paste this exact code into the Actions window: on(release){ getURL(clickTAG, "_blank"); } Please note that this code is case-sensitive. You have successfully added your click-thru! Page 14 Revised January 2014 If you are using ActionScript 3.0: Go to your Actions window and click the transparent teal button clickTAG_button once. Look at the Properties window to find additional information about the button, including its name and dimensions. Objects on your stage in Flash are just copies, or instances, of objects in your library. You will need to give your clickTAG_button an instance name. Click the box at the top that is called <Instance Name> and re-label it clickTAG_button_instance . Add a new layer above the rest and label it clickTAG_Actions . This layer should contain only the clickTAG code. Click on the first frame of the clickTAG_Actions layer, then go to the Actions window. Copy and paste this exact code into the Actions window: clickTAG_button_instance.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickTAG_function); function clickTAG_function(e:MouseEvent) { var clickTAG:String=loaderInfo.parameters.clickTAG; if ((clickTAG.substr(0, 5) == "http:") || (clickTAG.substr(0, 6) == "https:")) { var req:URLRequest=new URLRequest(clickTAG); navigateToURL(req, "_blank"); } } Please note that this code is casesensitive. Also notice the button name in the code is exactly the same name as the button instance name (clickTAG_button_instance). You have successfully added your click-thru! Page 15 Revised January 2014 Each banner ad can have a maximum of six click-thrus. Individual click-thrus will not be tracked separately; reporting will only show one number that represents total clicks. Please be sure to tell us which link each click-thru will correspond to in a text file. For example: clickTAG = http://www.xfinity.comcast.net clickTAG2 = http://www.comcastspotlight.com Each click-thru will need to have its own button above the rest of the layers on the timeline. When adding the clickTAG code to each subsequent click-thru after the first click-thru, add the number after "clickTAG". Please note that the first clickTAG will always be clickTAG, never clickTAG1. For example, in ActionScript 2.0: 1st click-thru: on(release){ getURL(clickTAG, "_blank"); } 2nd click-thru: on(release){ getURL(clickTAG2, "_blank"); } 3rd click-thru: on(release){ getURL(clickTAG3, "_blank"); } Page 16 Revised January 2014
