2006 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS GRIDIRON GEOGRAPHY METROPOLITAN KANSAS CITY K.C. WOLF has not always been the Kansas City Chiefs mascot. Back in the early days of the Chiefs WARPAINT, an Authentic Indian Pony, was the Chiefs mascot. Warpaint was purchased from a race track in Colorado where he was a lead pony. He was brought to Kansas City and trained at Benjamin Stables to ride at Arrowhead. Warpaint would wear special rubber boots so the turf would not be damaged by his hoofs. The fans loved to see Warpaint ride out onto the field on game days. When Warpaint wasn’t out galloping on the field at the stadium, fans may have seen him participating in parades around Kansas City. After Warpaint retired, K.C. Wolf became the Chiefs furry, loveable mascot in 1989. On game day you can find K.C. Wolf helping vendors in the stands, hugging children, or down on the field dancing with the Chiefs Cheerleaders and cheering for our team. Off the field, K.C. Wolf makes appearances at numerous community events, schools, and other fun activities. KC Wolf is proud to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Kansas City Chiefs Gridiron Geography program. The Kansas City Chiefs have been assisting teachers and helping students learn geographical principles for the last 25 years. Refer to Desk Map #10 1.
