Parade went smoothly with a few incidents. New member Robert
Holt had his 2015 Mustang when a lady backed into his front
bumper. He had less than 200 miles on it. Joe Walters volunteered
to allow the WAKY personalities to ride in his car but it died in
route. Lucky a new member with a convertible picked them up,
and they finished the parade. We had reservations at Kingfish on
the river but when we arrived they were closed because a
transformer blew up. We visited El Nople Mexican Restaurant and
all had a good time.

James Petrey, 502-321-1259, [email protected] is searching for a 2005 Mustang. He is
looking for any body shell because he has his own engine and drive train. Clean title is not
needed. If you can help out Jim he would appreciate any help.
Kathy Weston and Mike Williamson recently returned from a
9 day Switzerland tour taking in the major cities and small
towns. We had a couple of spectacular train rides through
the Alps. Our souvenir picture was at the base of the
Matterhorn after a rack train up to 10,000 feet.
We were lucky it was a very clear day. We also spent a week
in Varenna, Italy, one of the small towns on Lake Como
which we used as a base to explore by ferry many other
towns with beautiful villas and gardens. But alas, we did not
get to see George Clooney's Villa.

the two Mustang birthday bashes held in April. More will appear in the next issue.

Around the MCA
Well, it’s finally time for Cruise-Ins and Car Shows for this season. We got off
to a rocky start with our monthly cruise last weekend with rain and storms
with hail forecast. So we bailed early. But Sunday weather for the Bill Collins
Mustang Birthday Bash was almost perfect and around 80 cars showed up.
Coming up May 22 thru May 24 is the Gateway Southern Stampede
National Show in Grovetown GA. I know of at least 5 members planning to
attend. If you are going and would like to travel with the group, let me
know.
Since taking over as Regional Representative, I have been highlighting the
advantages of being an MCA member, mostly as it pertains to National
Shows and judging. I realize some of you are not interested in competing
on a National level so this month I want to touch on something most of you
will appreciate. Money. Most of you have these wonderful Mustangs and
most all strive to make them better. Some of the advantages of belonging
to MCA are the discounts from various vendors who support the Club
financially and also offer discounts as a way of gaining your business. But it
is not just parts suppliers who offer the discounts, Heacock Classic
Insurance offers current MCA members a 10% discount on their collector
car insurance. Ford offers X-plan pricing (for those of us who are not Ford
retirees). Ford Collection on Wheels offers a 10% discount on their products,
and even a specialty flooring company Swiss Traxx offers a 30% discount
on their garage flooring! So if you make a major purchase during the year
and buy from one of the companies who support us you may effectively
have your dues paid by them. I know I save about $30 per year just on the
insurance on my SVO.
Make sure you get your Mustang out and attend a function soon! They are
suppose to be driven.

2015 Flights:
Next Mission is tentatively scheduled for May 16, 2015, departing Louisville Int'l Airport (SDF) to
Baltimore (BWI) and return.
June 6th departing out of Louisville Airport (SDF) to Baltimore (BWI) and return.
September 26th departing out of Lexington Airport (LEX) to Baltimore (BWI) and return.
All dates are subject to change based on funding, transportation costs, availability and volunteer/support
staff availability.
Volunteer & Guardian Training:
•
If you plan on serving as a Guardian, you will be REQUIRED to attend this informative training with
emphasis on Safety and Security.
•
This training is required for Guardians by our chapter and insurance company. No exceptions can be
granted.
•
The 2015 Guardian training dates have been set for Saturday, May 9, 2015 and Sunday, May 17, 2015
to be held at 2:00 pm at the VFW Post 117, 170 Evergreen Rd., Middletown, KY 40243.
These dates shall cover the May 16th and June 6th Louisville Airport missions.
•
Training for the September 26th mission out of the Lexington Bluegrass Airport will be held in
Lexington at a date to be decided.
•
Additional training for the Touchstone Energy mission shall be determined at a later date.
Guardian Application:
Honor Flight would not be successful without the generous support of our Guardians. Guardians play a
significant role on every trip, ensuring that every veteran has a safe and memorable experience. Duties
include, but are not limited to, physically assisting the Veterans at the airport, during the flight and at the
memorials.
A very limited amount of family members and friends of specific Veterans may be considered as
Guardians only if a slot is available, and if they attend the pre-requisite Guardian training. Training is
provided on an as needed basis approximately one month prior to the planned flight.
Guardian priority will be reserved for medical professionals and those with previous Honor Flight
Guardian experience. Only after these slots have been filled will any other category of Guardian applicant
be considered. This policy is based on safety considerations.
Guardians are also responsible for their own expenses (transportation, meals, t-shirt, etc.). A Guardian
fee is used to offset the cost of travel, meals and supplies for the Guardians.
We normally have a waiting list for those wishing to serve as a Guardian.
EFFECTIVE January 1, 2015, the Guardian Donation will be $500. This Donation only helps to offset the
actual travel and expenses for the Guardians.
Note: Volunteers who have logged 2 or more trips as Guardians, will continue to have their fee remain at
$250.
If after reading the above, you would like to be considered as a Guardian for Honor Flight Bluegrass, please
download, complete and mail the Guardian application to the address on the form. Do Not send the fee
until notified of a flight assignment and training date.

NOTE: Electronic copies or faxes are not possible due to the original signature requirement on the
application.

Jim Petrey has his tricked out 2005 Mustang GT on the
market. He has greatly enhanced both the performance
and appearance of this beautiful ride. I wasn’t able to post
the sound bite of it’s motor, but take my word when I say it
sounds bad-ass in both the loud and quiet mode. The
below spec display sign is several years old, so add at least
2,000 miles to any listed mileage. He is looking for $22.5K,
so give him a shout and work on a deal. You can hook up

The Derby City Mustang Club was initiated in November
1989 by a small group of Mustang enthusiasts in the
Greater Louisville area. We hold monthly club meetings
and sponsor a monthly car cruise during the summer
months. We enjoy taking our cars out for Sunday drives
as well as attending local cruises and national car
shows. Our cars include everything from Shelby GTs to
the latest Cobra, Saleen, Roush, Mach I and everything
in between. The main purpose of this club is to have
fun. The October Derby City Mustang Club and
15 Bill
Collins Fordfest is the highlight of our annual events.
