This week’s Big Book Swap was a resounding success with over 530 tokens received within the 20 minute break time allocated for the swap. Keep an eye out for when the next one is to occur! All books left unswapped are to be donated to a children’s hospital or worthy charity so watch this space for further good news. Massive thanks to those who raided their book shelves and hopefully you swapped for some titles that you will enjoy reading in the future. Readathon winners have been decided and will be announced at an upcoming assembly. Mr Raja writes: Once more I would like to thank all the enthusiastic students, committed parents and dedicated teachers for their efforts and a special thanks to Miss Roberts for coordinating the following events throughout the Reading Rocks festival: Readathon, Parent Reading Morning, Get Caught Reading photo competition, World Book Day activities, Book Character Assembly, Storytelling Week, Peer Reading, Teacher Swap, Cartooning Assembly and the Big Book Swap. Thursday 19th March Institute of Education visit Football fixture vs St Christopher’s 1:30-4:15 On Tuesday 3rd March and Wednesday 4th March 2015 the Swaminarayan Prep School hosted students from Central London's Institute of Education to take part in a special Physical Education Workshop. The event took place in the Yogi hall and saw over 30 primary teaching students attend. Mr Thomas selected pupils from each Year 1 and 2 classes who took part in a wide variety of fun games. Mr Thomas would like to thank the pupils who attended, Mr Dryer from the IOE for leading and Mr Raja for coordinating the event. Yr 6H Mitul Matthews For his hard work and commitment in preparing for his exams. Yr 6R Himal Vyas For working to improve his handwriting and setting out PE Keshav Chandrasekar For consistently being the first one out of the changing rooms. The Big Book Swap During break time on Tuesday 10th March, Prep School pupils participated in the Big Book Swap, the last scheduled event for this year’s Reading Rocks festival. Books were donated over a four week period in the lead up to the event. Each book brought in was allocated one book token and on Tuesday morning, the pupils who had donated the books swapped their tokens for books to take home and enjoy. Thanks to all the pupils who donated books—the leftover books will be donated to a charity in the near future. We hope you really enjoy your new books! World book day
