Primera Iglesia Metodista Unida Celebrates 20th Anniversary!
September 2011
Keeping the First United Methodist Church, Hispanic Mission, School, and Childcare Families Connected
Dear Friends and Neighbors in Christ,
“Now to him who by the power at work within us
is able to accomplish abundantly far more
than all we can ask or imagine,
to him be glory in the church
and in Christ Jesus
to all generations,
forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21, NRSV
In the prayer above, the apostle Paul is referring to God’s power at work within each of us! As we open up this
month with Labor Day weekend, this fact of our faith invites some incredible reflection upon our work and our leisure…even during these difficult economic times. How is his power allowing you to accomplish far more than you
could ask or imagine?
This is equally true of the work of the church. We are embarking on our Capital Stewardship Campaign:
“Celebrating the Next 100 Years!!” for his glory in the church here at First United Methodist, Kissimmee, and in
Christ Jesus!! Together, we will accomplish far more than Sanctuary refurbishing, missional outreach and annual
budget, because this work is for all generations to come.
Finally, “AMEN”. It is true. With the power of God we know as the Holy Spirit, this church will continue to win, disciple, nurture and call disciples of Jesus Christ in this community, in the surrounding area, and around the world!!!
Yours in Christ, Pastor Bob

Meet Your Campaign Director and Consultant
“A native of New Albany, Indiana. However, my family were all born in Kentucky. Attended
Indiana University and the University of Louisville. I grew up in a Nazarene Church and married my beautiful wife, Amy in 1981. We are blessed with two wonderful daughters; Sara(25)
and Abigail (24). When I’m home I’m active in our church and involved in the community.
Directing and serving has been a true ministry calling for me. It is good to be here at First
United Methodist Church of Kissimmee! My firm James D. Klote & Associates Inc. provides
full-time Capital Stewardship Consulting Services. We have been chosen to direct the Focus
Group Meetings and to professionally plan, manage, implement & inspire your Capital Stewardship Campaign.”

ACOLYTES WANTED
It's that time of year again when we are looking for new acolytes. Acolytes are boys and girls in the 3rd thru 6th grade, who light the altar
candles and act as greeters before the 1st and 3rd service. Acolytes arrive at the Church by 8:00am and light the candles at the start of service. They stay for the first service and sit in the front pew. At the end of the first service they take the light back out of the Church. We do
not use acolytes during the 2nd service so they are free to leave or go to Sunday School. They relight the candles at the beginning of the 3rd
service and are then free to leave. If we have enough children signed up they will only have to perform their duties once every other month
except during the advent season when we use 2 at each service and 6 on Christmas Eve. To arrange for your child to be trained as an acolyte please contact our acolyte coordinator, Vincent Kirsch at 407-348-7643
A NEW SCOUTING YEAR BEGINS
With the return of the school year we also kick off a new year in Scouting at FUMC. We have Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts meeting
at the Church. The easiest way to sign a child up is to just come to a meeting. Cub Scouts is for boys in the 1st through 5th grade. They
meet in Fellowship Hall, every Monday, when school is in session, from 6:00 to 7:00. Boy Scouts is for boys who have finished 5th grade or
are 11 years old till they reach 18. Our Boy Scout Troop meets on Monday nights, in the Youth Room, from 7:00 till 8:30. Girl Scouts is for
girls in kindergarten through 12th grade and they meet in the Youth Room and Children's Room on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month,
from 6:00 till 8:00. For more information on Scouting call the Scouting Coordinator, Vincent Kirsch, at 407-348-7643

had a very busy

traveled to many
places and we have
had many people
come and share
their talents with
us. Summer has
ended but the
