CHECK YOUR DUES CARD! If your card
does not say 2015 your dues are not current.
In January new door cards are issued. You
must have a current dues card to obtain a door
card, participate in the weekly drawing or come
into the lounge. Be sure you can continue to
be an active AMVET member by paying your
dues.
Thanks to the volunteers who helped with the
horseraces, coffee stop, Thanksgiving baskets
and the Christmas Dinner. Your time and efforts make our activities a success. Thank you
to all of you who come to our activities and
support AMVETS.
AMVETS will begin a new raffle in late January. A get-a-way package will be the prize.
Tickets will be $10 each with only 100 tickets
available. Somebody will be the winner, it
could be you.
Our next meeting is Tuesday January 27th at
7PM. Please attend our hosted-bar social hour
starting at 6;15PM and visit with folks, have a
beverage and stay for the meeting. I hope to
see you there.

Ladies Auxiliary Notes
The officers of the Ladies Auxiliary would like
you wish you and your family a Happy New
Year.
With the start of the New Year, why don’t
you consider joining us at the monthly meetings? We have missed so many of you coming
to the meetings to listen to what is going on in
the auxiliary. We have projects, etc. that you
might be interested in to help Veterans and the
community. It only takes a little of your time to
volunteer for something. Our meetings are on
the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
with a social hour starting at 6:15 p.m., prior to
the meeting. If we do not have enough participation, in the near future, there is a chance we
won’t have enough participants to continue to
have an auxiliary.

A Big Thank You!
The Post would like to extend a huge ThankYou to all the people who have donated to the
Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, along
with your donations to the food locker! We
wish we could thank-You all individually, but
so many of you have donated and many
anonymously!
Just know, without your donations, we would
not be able to accomplish our primary mission…. Helping veterans in need!
VFW Post 318 Volunteer of the Year
2014
Join us Tuesday night January 6th at 5PM to
honor our 2014 VFW Volunteer of the Year,
Jimmy Vettori. We will be having a celebratory
cake in his honor along with a presentation
ceremony.
Although there are many individuals that
volunteer around the Post and the selection
process was difficult, Jimmy was chosen over
many over qualified candidates for all the
things he does, both for the Post, but also for
veterans, the VA and the local community.
Jimmy for the past several years has organized coffee stops and Buddy Poppy drives for
the Post. He has also maintained the medical
bank we have at the Post, ensuring any excess items are donated to worthy organizations He also makes weekly drives to American Lake V.A. hospital, taking donated clothing and personal care items for veterans residing there. He also spends time with the veterans who reside there, along with buying canteen vouchers for these veterans using his
own funds.
Jimmy is an active member of the Post’s
Color Guard, participating in many funeral
honors and posting the Colors at many events
around the area. When anyone at the Post
asks for volunteers to help with a project, he is
one of the first people to say he will help out.
For all this and many other actions he performs, it is with great honor we award Jimmy
Vettori VFW Post 318, our 2014 volunteer of
the year!
Post Elections
Post elections of new officers is fast approaching! If you want to have a voice in how
the Post is run, you need to consider about
you running for an Office or convincing another competent person to run. A certain core of
people seem to always hold Officer Positions.
Many of these people are getting older, have
other things to do or are just getting tired of
holding Officer Positions.
If certain positions are not filled, the Post faces being unchartered,. Most Post’s Officers
positions require very little of your time. Talk
to any Post Officer for more details.

Angela’s Corner
One Big Thank-you!
As this year comes to a close, I have a lot of
people to thank for all they have done to keep
this place afloat. It seems to be working is all I
can say! Thank-you all for your help and support!
There were so many of you that donated
money towards the new dishwasher, I did not
put out a dime towards the purchase. It is truly
appreciated!
I would like to say thank-you to the seven
people that put the New Year’s Party together:
Jim, Nancy, Bonnie, Terry, Blanche, Cheryl
and Gaylord. They worked for months putting
this all together. And I can’t forget our three
cooks for the occasion: Paul, Steve and Don.
Speaking of Don, he has come to my rescue
so many times, I really don’t know what I
would do without him. He has said, “When the
red pen in the office goes dry, I plan to retire”.
Little does he know, it has been replaced a
number of times.
Thanks to Carole who did a bang-up job on
my Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks to all the
volunteers that keep hamburger night and bar
stool bingo the best day of the week, to Tom
and Paul for their weekly drawings on Sundays, Bert and friends for Sunday Funday.
Last but not least, I have the best girls in the
world working for me. All their different personalities come together to make this picture
complete. You are appreciated!
I am sure I am overlooking many of you who
have helped out over the year, but I wish to let
you all know that your help is greatly appreciated!
Angela

Veterans & Families 4 The Cure
We want thank everyone for their support
and to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
For those of you who support our Bake
Sale, reluctantly, we have to raise
our price for cookies and baked goods to
$3.00.
Effective January 14, 2015.
As Always,
Linda
Thanks for your Christmas Giving
The PSHCS American Lake V.A. thanks the
donor of the large and heavy bag of clothing
left near the Quartermasters office. A quick
review found women’s and men’s winter jackets, a stocking cap, a women’s mittens and
much more. The clothing closet staff said a
heart-filled “Thank You” and the recipients of
the clothing wish you the joy of a Merry Christmas. There is always a need of all types of
clothing for our veterans.
Jimmy Vettori
Thank you to the VFW/VFW Ladies Auxiliary, AmVets/AmVets Auxiliary, Son of AmVets
and all members who donated Christmas
presents and money to the family who recently lost their father. We were able to bring in
over $500 worth of funds and Christmas presents for this family. The mother was so overwhelmed by our generosity and was very
grateful!
Also, a big thank you to all members who
helped out with the HHB 2-146 FRG Christmas Party. Your help was greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Kristi Doucette
