Self-explanatory
Select the “Students” tab.
Choose by last name, email, or ID.
For this exercise, choose YOU. You
can find yourself by last name.
Naviance is sorted by tabs. Students complete their
tasks in an area called “Family Connection, “ and you
can review their completed Family Connection tasks
in real-tab via the tabs.
Use the General tab to check the status of your students’
registration status. If they have logged in at least once, their
Registration Status will be “Registered” (and it will be green).
If your student has NEVER registered, tell him or her
to review the tutorial HERE. If the student “forgot”
his or her ID or password, you can edit EITHER or
BOTH instantly. Note that the user name the student
creates should be his or her email (although it does
not have to be).
For today, go to the nphs.org counseling website (HERE) and log in as a student by using the
ID/password combo below:
If your last name is 6 letters or more, your ID and password are your last name only with NO
CAPS. Example: Joe Smithson = smithson
If your last name is FIVE letters, your ID and password are your last name only preceded by
the first letter of your first name, no caps. Example: Joe Smith = jsmith
If your last name is FOUR letters, your ID and password are your last name only preceded by
the first TWO letters of your first name, no caps. Example: Joe Blow = joblow
If your last name is THREE letters, your ID and password are your last name only preceded
by the first THREE letters of your first name, no caps. Example: Joe Low = joelow
This is the landing page you (or your
student) will see when you (or he or she)
logs in to Naviance. The tabs are used to
navigate different areas, the links to the left
match the counseling website, the links in
the center are specific to grade level, and emails are located on the right.
Begin by selecting the “courses”
tab, then the “manage my course
plans” link towards the bottom of
the page.
Select “add a new plan.”
Select “Minimum NPHS
Graduation Requirements.”
Select “English.”
Select an English class
for each grade level.

Choose grade levels
Note the CREDITS gauge…
Even though you have not
added all your courses yet,
check out the “review” tab.
You will get a summary of
potential credits including
shortages.
You can also view by grade
level, which makes creating
reports easy…
Now click “careers.”
Explore the various
assessments.
Now click the “about
me” tab…
Finally, try the “my
planner” tab.
Afterwards, go back to
your teacher account
(via tcci.naviance.com)
and select yourself as
the student.
To view any student Family Connection
(as if are were the student), click the
“family connection” link on the left
side of the page.
To view any link for a
student as a teacher,
use the tabs on your
teacher account.
Keep in mind that in addition to student being able to create and maintain accounts in
Naviance, parents can also log in to their own accounts by simply following the tutorial on
the counseling website indicated earlier in this presentation.
As a teacher, you can create groups, send emails, assign tasks, and guide your students
through course planning, career exploration, resume building, goal-setting, college and
technical school searches, and much more!
