Happy 5th Birthday!
Congrats to the Sirpigal family! This is
our fifth anniversary and we can be proud of
our achievements so far. One of the recent
milestones is Sivaji – The Real Boss fundraiser
that was held on 23 July at the Grassroots
Club Theatrette. It brought together all the
members, artistes and volunteers who
produced a successful show that received lots
of compliments from the audience. We also
raised funds for our community outreach
projects through our souvenir magazine which
showcased our activities thus far. The Guest of
Honour was MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Dr
Janil Puthucheary. Tamil Murasu, Vasantham
Indian Beat, Oli 96.8FM and online magazines
gave good coverage on the event. My heartfelt
thanks to all who made this possible.

Sirpigal members were a part of Read
Singapore 2011. They made us proud by being
the only Tamil Reading Club that participated
in the book discussion in a bus that brought
them to the launch venue. Oli 96.8FM,
Vasantham Tamil News and Tamil Murasu
featured the members’ participation. We are
also planning for an outdoor book discussion
and related activities soon. Year end
community projects are also in the pipeline. Do
keep a lookout for details.
I am happy to note that the Sirpigal
Annual General Meeting had a good turnout.
Members exchanged views and ideas with the
committee and also found out more about how
projects are being planned and executed.
With this momentum and high
standard that we have set for ourselves, let’s
surge ahead to achieve more in 2011.
