Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Merry Christmas! I pray that you and your family continue to experience the joyous Christmas! Together
with Fr. Wayne and Fr. Agustin, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your talents,
gifts, and treasures to our St. Cecilia Church and School during this Christmas Season. May the Lord grant
you and your family peace, love, and joy in this Holy Season.
On the Holy Family Feast, we learn valuable lessons from the Holy Family. The Church encourages all
Christian families to look to the Holy Family for inspiration example and encouragement. Theirs was a model
family in which both parents worked hard, helped each other, understood and accepted each other as God’s
gifts, and raised their Son in human and divine wisdom. Let us pray for the grace of caring for one another in
our families, for each member of our parish family, and for all families of the universal Church.
On the threshold of the New Year 2016, together with Fr. Wayne, Fr. Agustin, Deacon Dong, Sr. Francesca,
Mrs. Alvarado, Staff and Faculty, we wish all of you and your families a happy, healthy, holy, prosperous and
grace-filled New Year. May God the Author of Life keep all of us in His providential care.

The Works of Mercy
The works of mercy are the practical ways we live out mercy. They are how we show loving kindness, compassion, and self-restraint to the people around us, both physically and spiritually. According to the Catechism,
“The works of mercy are charitable actions by which we come to the aid of our neighbor in his spiritual and
bodily necessities” (No. 2447). While the exact list has varied slightly throughout the history of the Church,
there are 14 consistently recognized works of mercy.

St. Cecilia Moms Group
Spring 2016 Registration
We are a parish ministry that is made up of moms
with kids of all ages. We meet twice a month on
Thursday mornings from 9-11 am, to have breakfast,
hear speakers (topics include raising children, marriage, organization, etc.), do crafts or service projects.
We are now accepting registration forms for the
spring semester which begins on January 21, 2016.
Registration forms can be found in the parish office,
school office and on the church's website.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
En primer lugar, nos gustaría expresar nuestro especial agradecimiento a todos los que han donado sus talentos
y dones a la Iglesia durante esta temporada de Navidad. Que el Señor les conceda paz, amor y alegría en este
tiempo Santo.
En la celebración de la Sagrada Familia, tenemos que aprender las lecciones de la Sagrada Familia. La Iglesia
anima a todas las familias cristianas a mirar a la Sagrada Familia, como ejemplo, inspiración y aliento. La suya
era una familia modelo en el que ambos padres trabajaban duro, se ayudaban mutuamente, entendido y aceptado los demás como dones de Dios, y allanaron su Hijo en la sabiduría humana y divina. Oremos por la gracia, de cuidar unos de otros en nuestras familias, para que cada miembro de nuestra familia parroquial, y para
todas las familias de la Iglesia universal.
Mientras celebramos nuestro Año Nuevo 2016, junto con el padre Agustin y padre Wayne, les deseamos a todos ustedes y a todas sus familias un feliz Año Nuevo con mucha salud y esperanza. Que el Señor el creador

Jesús, La Misericordia y Las Parábolas
“Sean misericordiosos como su Padre es misericordioso” (Lc 6, 36) es una de las afirmaciones mas atrevidas
de Jesús. Que Dios era un Padre misericordioso era algo sabido por el pueblo hebreo; pero es un problema el
pensar que los seres humanos pueden ser misericordiosos como Él. ¿Alguna vez se podrá ser misericordioso
como nuestro Padre? ¿Y por que razón deberíamos serlo como Él? El “evangelio de la misericordia”, como se
ha llamado al libro de Lucas, narra la vida de Jesús escogiendo la misericordia como principal hilo conductor.
Antes de hablar, Jesús ya ha hecho sentir y ver la misericordia. Uno de sus primeros Milagros es para
un leproso, por el cual “sintió compasión, extendió la mano y lo toco” (Mc 1, 41). Jesús no tiene miedo de
infectarse. El grito del ciego de Jericó es mas potente que quienes pretenden callarlo: “¡Jesús, hijo de David,
ten piedad de mi! (Lc 18, 38).
Sus encuentros con los enfermos y los pecadores están llenos de misericordia. Por compasión, libra a
una prostituta condenada a la lapidación (Jn 8, 11). La manera en que se deja tocar por una pecadora repugna a
Simón, el fariseo (Lc 7, 36-50). Jesús no habla de la misericordia en abstracto; mas que definirla, la cuenta en
parábolas. ¿Cuales parábolas? ¿Por que, como y para quien la misericordia en parábolas?

Children’s Faith Formation - Confirmation - Youth Ministry
Sunday Child Care
Ages: 1 - 5 years old
The parish has Sunday Child Care Service every
Sunday, in K-Extension room (School Area), beginning at 8:45 am and ending at 12:15 pm for all
parents and grandparents who go to the 9:00 &
11:00 am Masses. Please call Rosemarie at 714771-5406. There is no charge at all. Please bring
your children there. NOTE: We will not meet on 2
consecutive Sundays, 12/27, and 01/03/2016.
Children’s Liturgy at 11:00 am Mass
Ages: K - 5th Grade
Each Sunday Mass at 11:00 am, right after the
Opening Prayer and before the 1st Reading, all children from K to 5th Grade are invited to stand up
and go out to Modular Room 1 for their own sharing the Word of God. After the homily, during the
collection, the children will return to the Church to
continue the Mass.

grader. ABLAZE will resume Mon., Jan 11, 2016.
“Teens and Topics” meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday, from 7 - 8:30 pm in the Kuper Center. We
will resume TNT in February, 2016.
Led by 4:12 Leaders, and in the comfortable environment
of the Kuper Center, it’s a chance for the strong Youth of
4:12 to build community and minister to each other. All
High School students are welcome, and all Confirmation
candidates are required to attend at least one meeting
throughout the school year. Our next TNT is Feb. 4,
2016.
“Teen Scripture Study” is new this
year!! Meeting the 2nd and 4th Wednesday, from 7
- 8:30 pm in the Kuper Center. We will resume this
in February, 2016.
Led by Director Tim Reid, with the help of the 4:12
Leadership, this is a new addition to the Ministry this
year. All High School students are welcome, and all
Confirmation candidates are required to attend at least
one meeting. Our next meeting will be Feb. 11, 2016.

NĂM THÁNH TỪ BI là thời gian ưu tiên để học sống điều
đẹp lòng Thiên Chúa nhất, đó là, tha thứ và xót thương!
Điều kiện để lãnh ơn toàn xá trong Năm Thánh Từ Bi
Trong Năm Thánh Từ Bi, là người tín hữu chúng ta ai cũng đều muốn lãnh nhận ơn toàn xá cho mình hay nhường cho các linh hồn.
Vậy chúng ta phải làm gì để lãnh ơn toàn xá trong Năm Thánh Từ Bi đây? Theo tông huấn GIÁO LÝ ÂN XÁ (Indulgentiarum Doctrina) do Đức Giáo Hoàng Phao-lô VI ban hành ngày 1 tháng 1 năm 1967 thì:
1. Ân xá là sự tha thứ trước mặt Chúa các hình phạt tạm phải chịu dù tội đã được tha, với điều kiện xác định qua sự can thiệp của
Giáo Hội như thừa tác viên cứu rỗi, tha thứ với thẩm quyền và áp dụng kho tàng đền tội do Chúa Kitô và các thánh đã lập (x.Thành
luật, n.1).
2. Sự tha thứ hình phạt tạm gọi bằng tên riêng là Ân xá. Đây là cách giảm bớt dấu vết tội, đồng thời tẩy sạch các dấu vết tội đó.
Qua ân xá, Giáo Hội lợi dụng sức mạnh của Chúa Kitô, qua lời cầu nguyện và sự can thiệp của quyền bính, áp dụng cho người tín
hữu như họ chuẩn bị, kho tàng đền bù mà Chúa Kitô và các thánh đã lập để tha các hình phạt tạm.
3. Mục đích khi quyền bính Giáo Hội ban ân xá, không những nhằm cho các tín hữu thoát khỏi hình phạt mà còn thúc đẩy họ làm
việc đạo đức, đền tội và bác ái để gia tăng đức tin và mưu cầu công ích.
4. Khi người tín hữu lãnh ân xá cho người chết, họ vun trồng đức bác ái cách tuyệt diệu và khi họ hướng tâm trí về trời, họ cũng
khôn ngoan hơn nơi trần thế (Tông huấn Số 8).
5. Muốn hưởng ân xá, người tín hữu phải hội đủ 4 điều kiện sau: ….. Xin đón đọc tiếp tuần sau… 1/3/2016. Xin cảm ơn.
