WEEKLY Saturday, February 28, 2015 • 9 Adar 5775 SHABBAT TETZAVEH | SHABBAT ZACHOR Torah 1 Page: 339 | Torah 2 Page: 856 Haftarah Page: 995 Haftarah: Jack Perzow & Jonah Tal RABBI’S SHABBAT MESSAGE This Shabbat is Shabbat Zachor, is the Sabbath before the festival of Purim. If we were to analyze the leadership of Mordechai and Esther we would find that their leadership of the Jewish people reflected intellect and heart, Torah knowledge and compassion for the future of the Jewish nation. True Jewish leadership encompasses a love for each Jew and a concern for the needs of every segment of the Jewish people, represented by the names of each of the tribes engraved in each stone on the breastplate. G-d has given each of us the potential to combine both Torah learning and commitment to the Jewish people. We have indeed learned, and we remember this morning and on Purim, that in our greatest moments of pain and suffering no one asked us what kind of Jew we were. And while our enemies did not have a pure idea in not asking this, we can indeed learn from our enemies in this regard. That as they saw us as one, we should see ourselves as one. Purim reminds us in joy, in a narrowly averted tragedy, just how linked we are to one another.
