Play games and tour the pond to learn all about features that improve water quality. This is a FREE event for kindergartners and their parents. START Lexington Children’s Theatre 418 W Short St. Saturday, June 14, 10:30am – 12pm “3, 2, 1 ACTivate Your Imagination” – Spend the morning rotating between a short performance, craft project, and hands-on acting workshop! This is a FREE event to kindergarteners and their parents. 5 Kentucky Children’s Garden at the Arboretum 6 500 Alumni Drive Saturday, July 12, 10am - 2pm We encourage hands-on experience outdoors in the Kentucky Children’s Garden. Come ready to get wet and muddy – water shoes are highly recommended. This is a FREE event to kindergarteners and their parents. 2 5757 Versailles Road Saturday, June 21, 10am – 12pm “The Great Kindergarten Adventure” - Parent and child will follow clues leading through several fun, self-directed activities to help prepare you for the first day of school. This is a FREE event to kindergartener and one parent. All additional guests - $2/ person. Registration is required. 440 West Short Street Saturday, June 28, 11am – 1pm Reading, sensory, science and many more fun stations to visit as you make your way around the museum! This is a FREE event to kindergarteners and their parents. Lexington Ballet Company 11 161 N Mill Street Saturday, August 9, 10am “Dance into Kindergarten” – Children will witness and participate in an active lecture demonstration by the Artistic Director, Luis Dominguez and the Lexington Ballet dancers. Give your child the chance to have a first lesson with a demonstration from the professional company. The professional dancers will interact, guide and encourage the students. This is a FREE event to kindergarteners and their parents, as well as school-aged siblings. Any additional family members are $5 per person. 2 YMCA Bar Y Camp 140 East Main Street Thursday, June 26, 2pm – 3pm “Go to the Head of the Class!” – Learning some kindergarten level math and science skills in game style will help make your child a leader in the classroom. A Fayette County Public Schools teacher will be on-site to answer questions. FREE validated parking in Central Library garage. This is a FREE event to kindergarteners and their parents. 9 McConnell Springs Park 416 Rebmann Lane Saturday, August 2, 9am - 4:30pm “Nature Scavenger Hunt Bingo at McConnell Springs Park” – This is an “on your own” nature scavenger hunt bingo at the park – we will provide the bingo cards and prizes to youth that get a nature bingo. This is a FREE event to kindergarteners and their parents. No pets allowed in the park. 10 on pool on June 28 and July 26! (Free admission for wearing your Countdown to Kindergarten shirt.)
