Here is an example of how playoff points are calculated: Playoff Points 272 / Games Played 5 = Playoff Point Average 54.400 + Total Bonus Point Average 11.800 = Total Playoff Points 66.200 • • • • • Wow, Muskegon (73.7), 2 losses in a row and number #2 Rockford 6-0 (108) next. For Rockford, this is it for the tough games on its schedule; the path is paved for the defending Division 1 champs to have a 9--0 season. For Muskegon, well they are 4 points short of a perfect season,, and faced with having to pull an upset in order to avoid 3 straight losses. Mendon (68.0), the 10-time state te champ recorded its sixth straight shutout, 41-0, over Centreville (19.0). Looks th like they are working hard to get the 11 . Opponents, the plan first is just to score; then worry about winning. Oooh Wee! I guess Cincinnati Moeller is still the same Ohio Powerhouse that it always has been. That tough schedule of the Polar Bears of Highland Park (46.43) has caught up with them. They are now faced with winning out in order to make it to the playoffs. Detroit Southeastern (103.7),, a team with huge size and speed, picked up just as big a victory over Detroit King (67.2), 14-7; 7; to all but clinch the PSL Championship. Forgot to mention Gholston, 4 second half sacks. This game proved they can win a close game; the next test before they go downtown would be, can they play in cold weather. Birmingham Brother Rice (83.5) at Orchard Lake St. Mary's (41.9), 1 p.m. Saturday, this his could be for second in the Catholic League Central Division and a shot at Detroit Catholic Central in the league championship www.footballuniversity.org National Site • • • • game,, but it also could be the end of the road for O-Lake O as they need to win out for a chance in the playoffs. playoffs Traverse City St. Francis (69.3), (69.3) With a 56-0 win over Kalkaska (36.7), the defending Division 7 champion Gladiators moved to 6-0 0 and clinched a 20th consecutive berth in the state playoffs. It was also the 52nd straight Lake Michigan Conference win for St. Francis dating back to 2001 -- the same year Kalkaska last scored a point against the Gladiators. Kalkaska can you say, we don’t want to play them any more? Your bravado is clear, but its time to stop this fight. Here’s for throwing in the towel. Applause goes out to who ever figured out this week that Kenny Knight is 6’ 4” not 5’4”. Let that 53 yard pass play for a last-second TD before half, half from Josh Harris, serve as what you can do. The play made it 13-6 Country Day (73.7), at the half.. Also the defense should be saluted as well; the Muskegon Heights Tigers (60.6) dominated yardage-wise wise for most of the first half, but remained behind in the score mostly because of four turnovers. DCD 27-14, 14, in a much needed need win, but let’s don’t play any more Division 5 teams, even if they are ranked #1. How about Farmington (62.5) (62.5 beating Farmington Hills Harrison (73.8) not only this year; but back to back? back Someone check and see, if Mill has three games of eligibility left, the Hawks may need him, him it only will get tougher, with Rochester Adams (82.2) and Clarkston (101.3)) on deck in the upcoming two weeks. weeks th Unbelievable, after being ranked as high as 8 in the State, is it possible that going into the season finale, finale Harrison could be in a 3 game skid and a be in a must win game against Rochester Stoney Creek (42.6), just to make the playoffs? Interesting what you hear and who you see at a little league game. Members of the Pontiac Phoenix 5-1 (4-1) in OAA-Blue (76.0), were verbally letting it go when D.J. Lynch of Avondale 5-1 (4-0) 0) in OAA-Blue (70.9) recently attended a game in support of his cousin. One Phoenix player said, they “not not only will defeat the D.J. Yellowjackets – that’s all they got they got is D.J. - and that Francois (referring to Francois Matthews who returns this week after a minor injury) injury would be lucky to www.fbu-michigan.com Local Site Football University-Michigan University Newsletter – October 7, 2009 Players of the Previous Week • Games of this Week • Players ers to keep a look out For Detroit Free Press – Mike McCabe’s State Rankings • • • • • get 80 yards.” o Fowlerville Youth Football League Sounds like fighting words, huh, well it got my attention, o Gross Pointe Red Barons put it down as a game of the week; Next Week Week, 2pm; o Hamburg Youth Football League Leag th October 17 at Wisner Stadium.
