For additional information call the Family Life Office/ Diocese of Metuchen (732)562-1990 ext. 1624 We wish to thank the parents of the children who attend St. Ann School for showing tremendous interest in the school-life of their children. A high percent of the parents willingly attended two parent meetings – one on Saturday morning, September 12th and the other on Wednesday evening, September 16th. Parents had an opportunity to meet with our new Pastor, who also enjoyed connecting with them. They also came together to pray at a celebration of Mass, certainly an aid to the unity of the school family. James Masucci, from the Diocese of Metuchen, introduced the parents to Power School – an electronic form of notifying parents of the students’ progress almost instantly - regarding tests, homework and other assignments. A good portion of the evening meeting gave parents an opportunity to meet with their children’s homeroom teachers. During this time, each teacher outlined her program for the year and parents asked questions and shared in the dialogue. It was an interesting and enjoyable evening for both parents and teachers. Once again, we thank our parents for their support, their loyalty and their love for the school. HELP ! ! ! SEPTEMBER 27, 2009 The Importance of the Priest as Spiritual Father In the natural order, a man and woman are united in matrimony as bridegroom and bride. In the spiritual or supernatural order, Christ is the Bridegroom; His people (we, the Church) are the Bride. Just as new life comes from the union of man and woman, new life comes from the union of Christ and the Church—this new life is GRACE: the life of Christ in the soul, sanctification, holiness. At Ordination, the priest becomes a real image of Christ, he is betrothed to the Church, and he is given by God the sacred powers of administering the sacraments. When administering the sacraments, the priest acts in the person of Christ, and new life is generated within the Church: the new life of GRACE in the soul. At Baptism, every Christian receives spiritual life from Christ, ordinarily through the spiritual fatherhood of a priest. This spiritual life is nourished with further reception of the sacraments, most commonly those of the Eucharist and Penance. Spiritually, the priest fathers us into mature life in Christ. Just as a family needs a father, we need priests. Just as a good husband and father undertakes countless sacrifices for his family, the priest lays down his life in service to the Church, giving not only his time, effort, and natural talents, but also an outpouring of sacramental grace. What an incredible gift God gives to us in each and every priest! Save The Date On Saturday, October 10, 2009, Bishop Bootkoski will celebrate the 4:00 pm Mass at which he will formally install Monsignor Corona as the 14th Pastor of Saint Ann Parish. A reception with refreshments in the school cafeteria will follow TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Sunday, September 27 7:30, 9:00, 10:30, 12Noon Mass 2nd Collection—Peter’s Pence 1PM Sgt.
