Girls Varsity Soccer champs: LtoR: Lisa Hamblin, Annelise Marcus, Rosie McGill,
Katie Pierce, Sunny Twitchell and Hannah Westerman, Fall 1996
From p. 17 of the Winter 1997 issue of Waynflete School Magazine: "The girls
soccer team led the way for fall athletics, winning its second consecutive state Class
D championship. The team persevered through a season of injuries to qualify for the
championship game, held in Orono amidst a howling wind and stinging rain. But
despite these conditions, and All-State midfield Sunny Twitchell's absence due to a
foot injury, the team achieved a 2-0 victory against Eastern Maine Class D
champion Ashland."
