Sorrows History & Tradition
Dear Parents:
Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School has grown tremendously since the first three-room school
built by parishioners in 1938. For over 70 years, OLS has maintained its status among the
largest and most respected parish-run Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Please join us Sunday,
January 31, 2010 for our
Open House between 1:00
and 4:00pm to see all our
school has to offer.
Situated on 19 acres, OLS consists of a 1,200 seat parish Church; a Family and Early
Childhood Center with pre-school, kindergarten, and Chapel; an Elementary School with a
capacity for 1,100 students; Cafeteria with hot-lunch program; networked and air-conditioned
classrooms; newly renovated Library/Media Center; interactive whiteboard technology in each
grade; and a full-size Gymnasium and multiple athletic fields. Over $11.8 million in parish and
school campus improvements have been made in the last ten years.
Teachers and staff will be on
hand for questions and
demonstrations.
Our school is located west of
Orchard Lake Road and
South of Ten Mile Road. We
look forward to seeing you.

go, and when he is old, he will not turn
from it.”

Catholic School Advantage
It is widely accepted that Catholic
schools offer a safe and disciplined
learning environment that is
maintained through several policies
instituted at OLS including…
Installation of a secured and monitored
entry system to all school buildings;
Student adherence to a Code of
Conduct including policies against
bullying and harassment;
Requirement of background checks on
all school volunteers as established by
the Archdiocese of Detroit.
