Chairman
from the
United Way of Northwest Arkansas is an organization focused on
supporting people in need in Northwest Arkansas. Your leadership level
giving has allowed so many amazing things to happen in our community.
Because of your giving, 12,816 children were able to participate in programs
focused on school readiness to help prepare them for Kindergarten.
31,244 individuals had access to affordable health care services due in part
to your financial contributions. Your gift also allowed 290 single parents
to receive scholarships to go back to school and help move their family
toward a better life. As you can see, your decision to give to United Way of
Northwest Arkansas really does impact a wide range of individuals in need.

In the past year, we’ve touched the lives of 100,000 people in Northwest
Arkansas. Thank you so much for being a part of that!

Bold Goal
To provide every child in Northwest Arkansas a pathway out of poverty.
Primary Focus
United Way of Northwest Arkansas’ primary focus is children living in
poverty. In Northwest Arkansas, nearly a quarter of children, or 26,000, live
in poverty. These children face a multitude of barriers that keep them from
meeting the milestones necessary to progress and succeed.
In the 2014-2015 fiscal year, United Way NWA made strides in moving
toward our bold goal. In Spring 2015, we held a Children Living in Poverty
Summit to announce our primary focus and educate the community on the
issue with the hope that they would come alongside us to bring children
out of poverty. We also held five input sessions, which allowed us to gain
insights on the barriers that children in poverty face, what experiences
shape their lives, and what gaps in services exist for these children.
Since that time, we’ve been working internally to research the issue and
create a plan that involves the community coming together to build
strategies and outcomes that will build a pathway out of poverty for
children in NWA.
While children in poverty will be our primary focus, United Way NWA will
continue to fund urgent & essential need programs within our community.

Toqueville Society
The Tocqueville Society was inspired by the
observations of the French historian Alexis de
Tocqueville who wrote about the American’s
unique spirit of voluntary association and
effort for the common good. This spirit
lives at the very heart of United Way. Like its
founder, members of the Tocqueville Society
are people of vision. Their community
leadership enables them to see sharply the
social problems of today and help create
solutions that will shape tomorrow. Through
their gifts, Society members help to address the most critical health and
human service issues facing our community and to improve people’s lives
in the process. Our warmest thanks go to the members of the Tocqueville
Society for their leadership and most generous community spirit.
