Casarse por la Iglesia
Lamentablemente muchas
parejas que pueden casarse
por la Iglesia y así integrarse
con sus hijos totalmente en la
vida sacramental de gracia,
no lo hacen. ¿Por qué? Ante
todo, por ignorancia, pero a
veces también por flojera.
Ante todo, es preciso que el
católico se case por la Iglesia.
Nuestro Señor Jesucristo dice
a sus apóstoles: “En verdad
les digo: todo lo que aten en
la tierra, será atado en el
cielo; y todo lo que desaten
en la tierra, será desatado en
el cielo” (Mateo 18:18). Es
claro que dio autoridad a su
Iglesia para que estableciese y
guardara la disciplina de los
sacramentos. Por lo cual, la
pareja no casada por la iglesia
se ha separado de los
sacramentos y de la gracia
que el Señor quiere que
reciban comulgándose y
confesándose. No es justo
rechazar el don de gracia
otorgado por Dios, sobre
todo cuando sea necesario
para salvarse el alma.
Además, la pareja católica no
casada por la Iglesia corre un
grave arriesgo espiritual sea
en este mundo sea en la
eternidad.
A veces, personas que no se
han casado anteriormente y
pueden sin que haya algo que
impida el matrimonio
sacramental esperan casarse
por la Iglesia porque quieren
ahorrar para una boda grande
o tal vez quieren volver a
México o El Salvador para la
Misa nupcial. ¡Tontos! ¿Que
vale más, la pachanga o vida
eterna? ¿La ceremonia
delante la familia y los
amigos, o la disposición
humilde de someterse a los
mandamientos de Dios?
Hay tantas personas que,
por haber hecho errores
graves, no pueden casarse por
la Iglesia sin que haya un
largo e incierto proceso de
petición para una anulación.
Otros que, por problemas
migratorios, temen efectuar
el matrimonio sea civil que
sacramental. Esa gente quiere
comulgarse y confesarse,
pero no pueden. ¡Imagínense
que hay personas que pueden
arreglar sus matrimonios con
una simple convalidación que
no cuesta absolutamente
nada, y no lo hacen!
Hoy es el día de pensar
seriamente acerca de eso,
porque mañana puede ser
que viene el Señor.
+ Pax vobis et bonum,
Fr Francisco Nahoe OFM Conv

The Second Diocesan Synod of Reno is coming December 3, 4 & 5, 2015
Please pray for the work in preparing for this historical event for our Church in Northern Nevada, and offer input and assistance when and where requested during this process.
We are “Together, — where the Spirit leads.”
Prayer for our Diocesan Synod: God our Father, You have called us
by baptism to be faithful members of your Church. Send the Holy
Spirit to guide the work of the second Synod of the Diocese of Reno.
Inspire us to bring new life to the mission of your Church here in
Northern Nevada. Through the work of our Synod, may we follow
where the Holy Spirit leads, to become instruments and hope for the
world in spreading the Good News to people far and wide. With example and help of Mary our Mother who gathered with the disciples
in the upper room, may we listen to the promptings of the Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them
the fire of your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

JACKPOT
In our lottery- and sweepstakes-obsessed culture, it is
common to ask ourselves or others what they would do
if they won. In today's first reading, Solomon certainly
hits the jackpot. What prize could be greater than having
God Almighty agree to give you whatever you ask for?
Out of all the things he could have asked for, Solomon
chose to ask for understanding, and was rewarded with
it. We would do well to wonder what we would ask for if
God made us the same offer. Actually God does make
us the same offer each and every day, by granting us
another day of life, a bit of the earth's goods, some gift
or ability, some call to goodness, some portion of the
divine will. Each of these is a "prize." We should stop
and examine what we are going to do with our prize:
keep it or use it selfishly, or put it at the service of the
spread of the gospel?

RENOVATION
DONOR WALL
When contributors
originally pledged for
the Retrofit/Renovation,
they were told that their
name would be
displayed on a Donor
Wall. Some of the plans
that I saw were just too
expensive, this is one of
the reasons for the
delay. I have found an
economical way of
putting up the Donor
Wall in the Cathedral.
This will have a cost of
course, which we will
have to save for first. I’ll
let everyone know what
the cost will be shortly.
PARISH
CONTACTS
The CSA campaign has
slowed to a crawl. I’m
not going to keep after

you have plenty of
funds in your savings
account to cover any
short fall in CSA.

An exasperated
mother, whose son was
always getting into
mischief, finally asked
him, “How do you expect
to get into Heaven?”
The boy thought it
over and said, “Well, I’ll
just run in and out and in
and out and keep
slamming the door until
St. Peter says, ‘For
Heaven’s sake, GJ,
come in or stay out!’”
