Pirates end the season—hey, it was a good
run—way to go Bucs! …Hockey is back (yes,

a high school, college or pro football game on
every night of the week except Tuesday and
Wednesday—though there are baseball playoffs
and the World Series (24th) on most of those
days, too… If you’re not a big competitive sports
fan, there’s always music, comedy and theatre
(just take a look-see on the opposite page)

Oktoberfest!
Originating as a horse race honoring a
royal wedding, German Oktoberfest usually
runs around the second week of October.
Over the years, the festival has evolved
to include traditional music and dress, the
special Oktoberfest beer (served in one-liter
steins), beer tents, long tables and music.
Spaten Oktoberfest
Spaten is the world’s first Oktoberfest beer,
created in 1872.
The beer pours a clear amber in color
with an ivory head and lots of bubbles. This
medium bodied beer has an aroma of
heavy caramel malt. It’s sweet, with
hints of nuts and toasted bread;
with the right balance of herbal,
tea-like hops.
For anyone wanting to try
some of the Spatan Oktoberfest
beer you can find it at most
