Cornwall is our latest Local Authority to commission a blended service Set up in 2001 to help break down stigma attached to mental health services KOOTH.COM is flagship service has won awards for delivery Works best as fully integrated service Provides gateway to other services (inc. f2f counselling) Attracts „hard to reach‟ and „under the radar‟ YP www.KOOTH.COM Young People can sign up themselves Can go to waiting room to speak to counsellor Text based – live or asynchronous messaging Open 365 days a year: Out of Hours Service 12-10pm weekdays, 6-10pm weekends Choose a Counsellor …we use an interactive panel in 1-2-1 chat sessions to share outcome tools and resources such as worksheets …we are increasingly being commissioned to provide blended services offering face to face counselling in schools and community settings as well as the online service. We provide seamless referral routes into and between both services… …we use online referral forms that can be used for self- or assisted referral. We also still use old fashioned phone calls or posted letters! Give a real insight into the issues young people present with. Can be broken down into sub-locations, age, sex and ethnicity etc within each Local Authority Enable planning of resources to target issues where they are needed the most. As a service establishes itself we tend to reach more complex older users – through A&E for example 14 We provide outcome-informed interventions in our services, such as: cCBT Group Work DBT Humanistic therapies Family mediation As well as our vital early detection work through drop in support and advice …we can use interactive panel to share worksheets with young people …we are already using similar measures to those utilised in the CYP IAPT. Following is a breakdown of how we have developed measures on KOOTH.com… Use of Measures: …YP present with higher levels of distress online…. …There is a general downward shift in scores (i.e. improvement), though this is hard to capture in drop-in work Measuring therapeutic alliance with young people: ...most YP experienced a good or acceptable Alliance with their worker (even those who only dropped in once or twice) …the vast majority experienced feeling listened to (of significant therapeutic effect) A GbOM can help determine what works for whom, how and under what circumstances user friendly version of goal measure utilised in CYP IAPT.
