The “Summer” Connection Women’s Circle Picnic All the women’s circles will be meeting jointly for a picnic on Tuesday, June 14th, at 6:00 p.m. The group will gather at Cane Creek Park Pavilion #3. Note that, as a part of their ministry and this activity, they will be collecting shoes for Soles for Souls. We continue to meet for dinner and Dunamis throughout the summer months. A light dinner is served at 5:00 p.m. each Wednesday evening followed by our Dunamis service at 6:00 p.m. You can reserve your Wednesday evening meal on a weekly basis (respond by Monday at noon) or indicate a standing reservation for the summer by completing one of the peach-colored postcards, found on the narthex table. Melba Maxwell visited and worshiped with the congregation of the First United Methodist Church of Cookeville, TN on Sunday, May 22, 2011. 2011 Patriotic Service 4th Our annual Patriotic Service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30 th, and it promises to be a worshipful and inspirational event! The Patriot Singers, an ecumenical community choir formed especially for this occasion, will sing several selections, and a brass ensemble will be on hand to add festive instrumental music. This year’s program will focus on the vision our founding fathers had for this country, and will include dramatic portrayals of several of those who were so involved in helping to formulate our Constitution. The program will also include a flag ceremon y entitled “Operation Patriotism” which will be presented by Sgt. Steve Williams and members of the Tennessee Air National Guard. Plan to join us on June 30th for another exciting patriotic program!
