The First Garnet & Gold Clash was amazing. The Course was unbelievable
and the weather held out although it did play a crucial role. Here are the group
summaries
Group 1:
The Commish hits wrong ball on #9 and enforces two stroke penalty on
himself moving from birdie to bogey and a three quota point swing. Cory
Couch seizes the moment going from three down at the turn to up one on the
two following holes as the Commish tries to shake off his blunder going open
on #10 and #11. Rain delay as leaders reach tee box at #14. Commish makes
improbable par on 14 including a stroke penalty for unplayble lie. Takes lead
by one. Couch fires par on 15 to tie the match headed to 16. both players bogey
to head tied to 17. both players left of green on tee shot. Couch makes remarkable chip up hill and down slope to within 8 feet while commish lands his 15
feet. Commish 3 putts while Couch slams door on commish with par put. with
commish trailing by two points, figures he must make birdie on 18 to have a
shot. presses and make double. couch seals the deal with ho-hum par
Group 2:
Nick from Philly sticks an approach on #2 and calmly sinks the birdie putt, unfortunately that would be his only run at The Chief. Boyd and
Austin started off slow but really picked it up after the rain delay and the realization that a gator might win. Boyd got a par on 16 to get it close.
Ritesh used a strong 3 wood all day to get him in position, but the flat stick was not kind to the brown guy. Austin finished with 4 straight birdies
to get to +2, but in the end there was not enough fire power in this group to make a serious run.
Group 3:
Jon Sara made a valiant attempt in his first BGA event coming up with 16 quota points, but a high quota made his effort for not. Eric recorded
back to back pars in only his 3rd time ever playing. Drew and Trey both fought hard for The Chief, but fell short.

Boggs United Rides to a 2-2 Draw
The Boggs United Soccer Team got off to a luke warm start Monday
night. The team showed excellent stamina through the first five minutes,
but as the game progressed the team seemed to hit a wall. The final score
was 2-2. Goals were scored by Lonnie Hohnson and Andreas. The assist
went to Limey & Ritesh. Other highlights included The Commish getting
2 fouls in 5 minutes of play, including a yellow card that cost the team a
man for 2 minutes. The team will play next Monday at 8:30 pm at The
Long Center in Clearwater. Special shout-out to Amanda for being the
ONLY non-player to show up.
BGA To Participate In Relay For Life
The BGA Cares has chosen the Dunedin Relay for Life to be
its inaugural event. It will take place April 18-19 at
Knology Park in Dunedin, FL. Team Captain Amanda
Gillespie has assembled a wonderful group consisting of
BGA proffesionals and OLs. Thanks to fundraising efforts
by the team, and a highly successful “Mexican Mardi Gras”
the Krawfish Krewe has attained Bronze level status before the event. For
those of you not familiar with the team ranking system, that is equivalent
to getting your quota on the front 9. Look for more BGA Cares events in
future BGA Media Guides. And remember “The BGA Cares, because its
not all about drinking and talking shit while getting away from the OLs
for a couple hours”

Spotlight Player of The Week
The Commish
Born on the mean streets of Alpena, MI, The
Commish began his love of sports at an early age.
He layed the blueprints for the BGA at age 12
with his Church Football League, complete with
a draft. After realizing that he would not be starring in the NBA or MLB, The Commish turned to
Golf and began to hone his game. After many
rounds with The Ass Commish it was decided
that the BGA would be formed. The date was
set for the first “Quota Clash”. The Commish
selected a beautiful crysstal lamp to be the first
trophy. After months of anticipation and hype,
The Commish finished in last place on his home
course. This did not deter him from his mission
of becoming the “Best BGA Player Ever” As the
next clash approached, The Commish faced a
dilema. He had to attend a baby shower the day
before the clash. He woke up at 5 am and drove
from Jacksonville to make it on time. He showed
the wear of his drive on the early holes, but after
sinking the only eagle in BGA history he was
well on his way to reclaiming The Lamp. Since
then he has flirted with his second win, but has
been unable to close the deal late. The future
looks bright for this BGA pioneer. He has become known as the Jacob of the BGA island, but
has begun to hear footsteps as the rest of the tour
catches up. We all owe The Commish a debt of
gratitude for his hard work to make the BGA the
best it can be.
